This guy needs some help...
Guys, plawolf and Janiz in this case, step back a bit.

The western press is what it is.

Easily, others could indicate that either Russian or Chinese press parrots what they are told.

Fact is, while we may make educated guesses, we simply do not know in many cases.

So we are left with ourselves saying what our own bias is..and it works both ways.

So let's not go there. It ends up leading to arguements, name calling, and then moderation and suspensions.

Thanks.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION

I thought all sports in the Olympics had to have equal participation by men and women. So why do we have synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics for women only?
Also any sport that qualifies for the Olympics had to have a high level of participation by the people of all regions of the world and yet we see sports like baseball, surfing skateboarding appearing in the next Olympics.

In the past Western countries had more influence on the IOC hence the type of Olympic sports played were stacked in their favor.

In-terms of regions, South Asia failed to win a single gold! That is really sad, for a sub-continent with a population over 1.7 BILLION, that pretty demoralizing. Compare that to Africa which won 31 medals including 8 golds!.

There was rumor that Sri Lankan team had more officials than athletes. The officials were using the Olympics as an excuse to joyride. All hail Nepotism!

Jamaica has 6 gold medals for a population of less than 3 million. Ratio wise that would likely be the best. To your point India is not known to be a sports powerhouse so it is what it is I guess.

China came in 3rd behind GB. I thought they would do better honestly but no doubt the US blew everyone away. With the inclusion of baseball and skateboarding the advantage favors countries like the US in the next Olympic. Also with Bolt retiring, the field is wide open again in the sprints. I was impressed by the 4 x 100 Japanese relay team! They came in 2nd behind Jamaica!
