F-35 Joint Strike Fighter News, Videos and pics Thread

I agree. While some of the arguments used are reasonable, counterfactuals by nature are designed to support a preferred narrative.
the Italian spin shows how the supporters are desperate, but with this success story:

damn! Price: Inquire ... the 2016 procurement cost of an F-35A is $123m
yeah... um... point here if you consider a price comparison between a brand new anything vs a 60 year old one I think you will find that the new is more.
but then again Current sticker Price on a Eurofighter is about $161 million a pop.

exactly?

EDIT
I'm aware of
Expect Claims from "Experts" that the A4 was not up to hunting lightnings.
However for a Gen 3 Attacker/fighter the updated Skyhawk should give a pretty good analog on how Lightning would handle older Russian and western fighters like the Mirage, Phantom, and Mig 21. This also should prove just how off the mark so called experts like Pierre Sprey are, as he claimed in an interview that even a third gen fighter could take the Lightning.
but in that test, what was the radar on A4 strike aircraft which were pitched against F-35?

ROFL Senator McCain was shot down in a Skyhawk

Answer.
One of the Claims thrown out by the more Vehement Foaming at the mouth F35 "Skeptics" is that in a fight against any jet F35 would loose.
The A4 is a nimble machine And these were Upgraded with the latest avionics available to them. '
  • The A-4s we faced in these exercises had sensor performance along the lines of our own upgraded F-16s. They also carried jammers intended to disturb our radar.
It's a very good surrogate for a number of lesser states mainline fighters.
Farther more the pilots were not Nuggets.
  • The pilots we faced were very experienced. We are talking 2000 hours plus in aircraft like the F-16, F-15E, F-15C and the F-22, with detailed knowledge of “fifth generation” tactics and weapons. When also cooperating closely with intercept controllers on the ground (GCI) they could adapt the training and offer us a reactive and challenging opponent. Note the word “reactive.”

you know, next week my holidays will be over, in the meantime this "A4 turkey shoot" will get noticed by local press; I'll come to the pub, and one of the questions to me could be: "Is it true?" LOL

His other one also started an epic fire on a Super carrier.
Any way to answer your radar question I suspect that this is the actual specs on the A4 involved as I think Draken international was actually flying as Red Air.

my gosh: "During the war, 362 A-4/TA-4F Skyhawks were lost due to all causes. The U.S. Navy lost 271 A-4s, the U.S. Marine Corps lost 81 A-4s and 10 TA-4Fs. A total of 32 A-4s were lost to surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), and one A-4 was lost in aerial combat to a MiG-17 on 25 April 1967."
