Movies in General

Anyone hear about "The Screening Room?" You buy a set top box for a $150 and you can watch movies at home at the same time as they're released in theaters. Catch is it cost $50 a movie. I can see why theaters would be up at arms at this but unless you have a large family going to the movies all the time, who's going to pay $50 for a movie?
Here's a panel discussing all the angles of screening room.

To me this is for a niche market as several members have already stated i would also add parents who don't want to ruin the movie experience for other movie goers by bringing their babies and under aged children to movies no suitable for them when they can't get a babysitter.

Now if this service could keep the disruptive jerks that ruin movies at home then maybe the theaters might be able to attract more people back to the theater.

I read Infinity War in the 90's Spidey was apart of it but not a major contributor to the end result. So the could do something the allows Marvel to recast most of the actors without a reboot of the MCU.(but we'll have to wait and see) The kid they cast for spidey is barely 20 years old so he could play spidey for the next 10-15 years without get too old like Robert Downey Jr. Hugh Jackman has been Wolverine for over 15 years and might be Wolverine for another 5yrs, longer if Fox does the Old Man Logan story

I'm planning to watch Batman v. Superman tomorrow night. I've been hearing and reading disappointment from those who've already seen it. So either it's going be worse than what I've heard and read or it's going to be at least good because most of the reviews come from people who loved Force Awakens.

Most of people doing the reviews expect something similar to the Avengers and the Guardians. And they automatically assume that superhero stuff should all be something similar to the Marvel formula. And they were obviously disappointed that this movie has none of the lighthearted and funny stuff found in those Marvel movies. And they complain. Hence all the comments about doom and gloom and self- seriousness.

What they fail to understand is that DC stuff is usually dark, especially the Frank Miller stuff. All the successfull DC movies and shows have been dark. These include Tim Burton's Batman movies, Nolan's Batman movies and the latest Snyder's Superman movies. TV show Arrow on CW (one of my favorites) is also very dark and humorless. This has been a style of DC lately. Those who attempt to make it funny have failed miserably. For examples, please point your head at that mess called Green Lantern and what I call it the "Batman with nipples".

So if you start watching the Godfather expecting to see butt-kicking Bruce Lee kung fu fights, you will be disappointed. Similarly, if you go into the BvS movie, expecting to see funny jokes and superheroes making a fool of themselves, you will be disappointed. I will go into the movie expecting a doom and gloom movie. And I expect to see a damn good doom and gloom movie. That's my expectation.

Has anyone started watching the second season of Daredevil on Netflix? I have finished about 6 episodes and absolutely love it. They introduced some awesome new characters (don't worry. I won't name them). This season is even better than season 1. With the origin story out of the way, it now feels like a full-fledged comic book story. I'm having goosebumps when some of the new characters come out. I feel like I'm back to high school and reading an actual issue of a comics. It's awesome.

In a sense, many good superhero TV shows, like Arrow, Flash, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, even Heroes, have this comic book feel. I was pretty disappointed when they cancelled Heroes only after 4 seasons...

Legends of future tomorrow is a little disappointing to me. They've gathered some awesome actors but I just don't feel the chemistry. It's boring...

On the other hand, I can never get that "comic book" feel when watching the movies... I still love the movies, but not because they remind me of comic books. Mostly, I love them because they blow stuff up, big time! And I love it!

The reviewers I know of that loved Force Awakens that were disappointed were comic geeks including one Jon Schnepp.

I thought he liked the script last year...

Anyway... I'm going to watch the movie and enjoy watching Batman and Superman kick the crap out of each other. :p:D

If he read the script then it must not have been the final draft. He was angry when the third trailer revealed information he believed spoiled the ending.

Just came back from Batman v. Superman. I was entertained. The action was good. That was the best part. It wasn't the greatest superhero movie but I'd say it was better than Man of Steel. The major problem came at a lull that started about 30mins in and went on more than a half hour. Just a lot of talk. The movie was something like 2hrs 31mins. That lull made it feel like a longer movie. I agree they should not have released the 3rd trailer. It would've probably made the movie more of a surprise. I do like Ben Affleck's Batman. He kills people and he scares everyone even the police. His fight scenes were better than most of the Batman movies of the past. There were some minor things that didn't make sense that may have been because they cut something out. Maybe the rated-R director's cut will fill in some holes. They probably could've done a better job editing the movie.
