Russian Su-57 Aircraft Thread (PAK-FA and IAF FGFA)

I'm not the Mig Fan I was, for the reason Wolfie suggested, I like the engines separate from the fuselage, and the Flanker is more to my liking, but I would confess to a love affair with the Mig-29 until I saw the Flanker. Now if you look at the lower picture, the PAK-FA has a beautiful wing/fuse planform, it has a mid-mounted delta, the only place it suffers is the Flanker has a voluptuous forward fuselage kinda like the F-14.
PAKFA is not ugly but i prefer the older MiG-29 or the Su-35

to me it's amusing to read about Russian amusement when their weapons are criticized in the West :)

It's not that they don't "like" the PAK-FA, the "Russian Specialists Familiar with PAK-FA" are noting to the Janes reporter that the PAK-FA lacks systems critical to a fifth gen standard, and that the IRBIS radar and F-117S are already flying aboard the SU-35.

to summarize what I've been stating for years, they "the Russian Specialists" are venting their frustration to Janes.

The F-22ski, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, but in reality? "it ain't a duck?"
It is a very beautiful, agile, fast Flanker, nicely done, but its L/O and electronics are just not up to standard.

In contrast the J-20 is a very serious effort to get into the fifth gen ball-game?? but it is a first gen L/O aircraft, China has "clamped down" on data breaches via the "wall climbers", so we are left to speculate on whether or not they have been successful, or how successful they have been. The Russian specialists have been very frank on the other hand.

the Russian article from my post right above quietly mentions what's described in

Fifth gen business is difficult to execute and expensive to fund. A feature no doubt the Russians are finding out. The frustration generated in a way is self inflicted by the Russians because of the propaganda like promises with smart skin, plasma stealth and more recently photonics radar. Vapor ware as we know only last momentarily and at some stage you have to show some results and not more promises. In terms of electronics, where is the AESA that was planned for the PAK-FA? We would know if progress was made because it would be highly publicised just as the recent issue made with that climb rate thingy. 5th gen attributes are about stealth, avionics and SA. 8th year into the program and 700 plus flights = frustration.

Exactly, and when you have come to believe your own propaganda regarding your "vapor ware", then reality starts to set in, you have to come up with excuses and "own" your own words and promises.

the article by Jane`s is a joke, for starters it does not have the Irbis radar, that makes the article trash, the engines are also different, Su-35 has 117S while T-50 has 117 a more powerful variant

you have to be more specific what do you mean, specially since the article by Jane`s is poorly written, T-50 has no Irbis radar, that makes the article really bad.

in fact i do not blame the Russians for laughing at an article by a writter who made such gross mistake
