Australia has a navy? Oh my...
I would not lightly, or snidely, dismiss the Australian Navy.

They have a good history and tradition of naval activity...and they are squared away with what they have.

Although, as I pointed out on the PLAN Naval News thread (I believe), the Adelaide and Anzac FFGs are not in the same weight or multi-roleclass as a Type 052D and some of the other comparative classes (Burke, TIco, SeJong, Atago, etc), they are nonetheless very good combatants and would not be taken lightly by any other professional navy.

Particularly the Anzacs with their Air Defense Upgrade, although the upgrade to the Adelaide has helped keep them very relevant too. They have 11 of these vessels altogether.

The three Hobart will be more capable and that will place them in the class with the other DDGs, and they will replace the Adelaide.

OT slightly -- hehe maybe he meant the New Zealand Navy. I think that would fit the bill quite well. Sometimes we joke that all we have are a waka armed with a couple of water guns as our navy.
Well, New Zealand does have the two Anzac frigates...but I do not believe they are slated to get the full Anti-ship Missile Defense Upgrade like Australia is doing with theirs.

But I do believe in 2014 they were approved for a more modest upgrade that included replacing the existing combat management system, and, importantly, replacing the Sea Sparrow with Sea Ceptor missiles. I think it also includes the fitting of a Surface Ship Torpedo Defense, (SSTD)system. Those are much needed upgrades, but do not nearly rise to the level as what the Aussie Anzacs are getting.

Other than that, there are also six fairly nice OPVs, a replenishment ship, and the Canterbury multi-role/LPD. I believe that's it.

wellll, NZ navy is good enough for NZ .. we don't have any enemies practically and in the middle of nowhere ... somebody would have to face Australia navy first :p

5 Chinese Type 022 and 5 Type 056A would be a great addition to NZ navy ... heheheh

C-28As would be a nice fit in terms of size, feature, and price but politics will be show stopper. :p

Does China still imports Bow mounted Sonar TAS & VDS for its destroyers and Frigate from Ukraine and if so Then why China is unable to make them on its own.

There are no indications that any of the sonars used aboard their ships are imported.

Here are some new pictures of 052D construction at the JN shipyard.

Second picture is of 052D's from left to right no.8, no.5 and no.7

Out of curiosity, from the first picture, if you look at the left hand shed you can see a mast. What type of ship is this for?
