We've already seen pictures of 15 J-15s from 100-114, it's not really outlandish to think there could be 20 J-15s already

Being one of the most popular military forum in China, I would think you need some kind credibility and knowledge to be qualify as one of the Air Force forum moderator in CJDBY

I think is worth posting here the information to share with fellow members and debate about it, it's up to the individual members here to believe or dismiss the information. That's all.
Jaybird...ENOUGH already.

Several long time SD poster and now two SD Super Moderators have tried to tell you to let it rest.

I'll make it official...

LET IT REST.

If you see more than five J-15s on the Liaoning...post it.

If the PLAN announces or shows, or we see more J-15s past 114, post it. We have kept excellent track of it here...as well as any place else.

Finally, stop using SD for a springboard for the posts from other forums. Post things that are credible with sources here on SD. Mention now and again of posts on other places is fine.

BUT SD IS NOT A SPRINGBOARD FOR, OR AN EXTENSION TO, OTHER FORUMS OR THEIR POSTERS.

It is also not a place to promote them.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS MODERATION.

What's the maximum number of airplanes which could previously be counted on a photo of Kuznetsov or Liaoning? More than 12? Does anyone have a link to such an image?

As Snake's pic shows, I have seen nine SU-33s, two Rooks (Su-25s) and five helos on deck before for the Kuznetsov.

still a maximum of five J-15s on the Liaoning.

Is the wing size of 24 flankers of Kuznetsov hangar only? Russian navy requires the carrier capable to store all of her aircraft in hangar during extreme sea conditions. Thus Liaoning, which operate in comparative modest water, could potentially have a considerably larger air wing by stationing some aircraft on deck permanently (like most other navy)?

You might be able to somehow fit 24 flankers in the hangar, but they would be quite closely packed.
I don't think there would be enough space left for helicopters and for moving the planes around.

You can fit 20 Flankers and 10 Helix in the hangar comfortably, so 24 Flankers definitely can be fitted if you move some of the helicopters to the deck.

And just to give a better idea of Russian aircraft handling ideology. Hangar can house 70% of the airwing on Kuznecov. The project breakdown was 12 Su27, 14 MiG29 and 24 Ka27, but there has never been that many MiGs and helicopters on board which leaves plenty of space for additional Flankers.

There are drawings on the Internet that show a theoretical maximum number of 22 aircraft in the hangar. These drawings are not official. The actual figure will be considerably lower.

A word from the wise.. that would be me.

You can shove as many aircraft aboard a CV as the ship can physically accommodate. But you'd better have berthing for the crew that will maintain those birds and work spaces for shops that repair things that break on those birds. And military aircraft need constant maintenance if they are to preform their duties when called on..

Also you can't pack a hangar full of aircraft with no room left for safety.. such as moving or maintaining aircraft, fire, emergencies etc..

When aircraft are in the hangar there needs to be an aisle open to safely travel from bow to stern and vice versa.
