Looks like they're fitting her what looks like to be a new smaller island attach could be more radar and communication tower? Anyone else knows what they're doing to the "Ike"?

They are just re-conditioning the island. I do not believe there will be any major changes. Just up-grades.

Like TE said in CVN 76/77 the aft mast has been moved to the main island. The island is also longer and the PriFly has improved visibility as well allowing 270 degree visuals for the people working inside it.

It's my Opinion that this change, as well as that of the Bulbous bow as well as other improvements make the Ronald Reagan a separate class of CVN then the previous Nimitz class and the successive farther modification of the George W. Bush and the Gerald R Ford class.

It's Fleet Week in NYC. The USN has not posted many photos. I'm hoping a carrier is available to participate. Maybe an LHD. It's been several years since a CVN has been to Fleet Week in NYC.

USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) is at sea in the Atlantic near the Virginia Capes at this time. Maybe she will make an appearance in NYC Fleet Week..

edit... nope no CVN or LHD this year...that is weak!
