You're absolutely correct, the right engine is making thrust, the left engine is likely at ground idle thrust, turbine aircraft are often taxied on one engine to minimize fuel burn, in fact there is work going on to taxi with electric power to the mains, and to fire up once you reach the run-up pad to save fuel, another dumb green idea, but I guess if you are in line waiting for take-off that black rich mixture can be very noxious. This will likely cause more problems somewhere else, but hey, its a great idea...brat
OT
That work has been going on for more than twenty years so I'm not very hopeful. But if you remember that a 747 might burn as much fuel before leaving the ground as the airship Hindenburg needed to carry seventy passengers over the ocean it might, in the long run, not be such a daft idea. :)

Paralay, the official dimensions were posted at the Zhuhai airshow, it's 16.9 x 11.5.

What do you make of the wing area under those conditions?

And aside from that, they claim that the typical take-off weight is only 17,500 KG. That's pretty low; China has very advanced titanium-working technology (3D printing), so it's possible they cut off the empty weight by 2000 KG or so by using more expensive, but lighter and stronger materials, but I still can't believe that that's the actual take-off weight with 100% fuel and a A2A loadout.

It's possible. I will correct the drawing, if it is confirmed.

Empty weight - 13196 kg. Normal takeoff weight - 19500 kg. Maximum takeoff weight - 23600 kg.
It may be less than the weight, I do not know.

These are more likely projections than anything else, though; while I think the length / wingspan figures are correct; the weight and range are too imprecise.

I'd really like to know the wing area on a 16.9 / 11.5 dimensions, though. I had it calculated at alternately 40, 45, and 50 m^2.

It's a bit funny, because if they have severe weight reductions via advanced titanium manufacture on the J-31 it's possible that the J-31 will be comparable to the F-22 on a kinematics point of view (437.5, 388, 350 wing loading at 17.5).

J-31 will face same problem as JF-17, it needs Chinese engine

I believe if right from the start the JF-17 had WS13 engine it would have secured some serious export orders

It is a pre-request, a indigenous engine is a MUST

Nah!, not without lots of horsepower and OVT! brat
