Agreed. Asians tend to be the most passive and ignored minority, still it will be interesting times ahead with the elevation of Asian-Pacific importance and the rise of Asian demographic to boot in U.S.

Also Asian tend to have this problem of voting EXACTLY 50/50 Democrats and Republicans.

There are always plenty of new immigrants that favor Democrats, and there are always plenty of rich Asian that like Republicans.

And Asian is too broad identity, there are Chinese, Korean, Filipinos, Japanese etc.. and they all don't like each very much, no way you get them to work together as a single political block like those Jewish voters.

Asians right now are actually the fastest growing demographic in USA surpassing even Hispanics immigrants.

Immigrant is the keyword in your article.

My point was that I just couldn't picture American Asians having a higher birth rate than Blacks and Hispanics. Just my 2 cents.

Asians might be growing faster precentage wise but not actual numbers. Big difference. Yeah Asians are not monolithic especially new immigrants. They will bring their nationalistic rivalry they have with other Asians.

Yep that's true. And that's also how you can tell the difference between someone who had just landed or been here long enough - after you're here for long enough, you start to pay less attention to nationalistic rivalry in favor of defending what it means to wear the name "Asian"

Probably not. But I just wanted to point out demographics are sifting regardless of birthrates :)

Congratulations to Mr. BO, what a masterful acceptance speech

Jeff, you are an outspoken Romney supporter, how do you feel and what do you think of his re-election?

i think the american civil war might finally be over.

for 147 years now, the south has held on to a belief that it's "way of life" would rise again. well, the confederate belt has now been soundly defeated, again! no palin to blame this time. a successful billionaire, former governor, and a bright, handsome, and ambitious young congressman put forth the best that the contemporary republican party had to offer. even with this, they couldn't even win their own home states. those states just so happened to be union states, and, just as in the historic civil war, they have rejected the politics of the exclusion of privilege to a particular class. just as in the historic civil war, working class americans from "the north" have defeated the privileged "south".

if the gop ever wants to be relevant again, they'd better start considering the politics of inclusion, and quick!

i voted for romney, cynically, because i believed in the power of that old ideology. i don't believe in it, but i did believe in the power of it. i was certain that it would celebrate one last great victory in attempting to restore that outdated value system. i guess i underestimated america's progressive evolution and overestimated its regressive inclination.

no, the sour grapes and vitriol won't cease. but, the awareness will set in. karl rove, the war AND the battle are now over. it's time to retire the confederate battle flag once and for all!
