I do have a question for everyone here ......... What are the thoughts of the Chinese on the Stealth characteristics of 'Plan-Form Alignment'. Does this conform with the Chinese concept of stealth and what are the chances that once the finalist is approved in the Stealth Fighter competition, that the chosen fighter's design would be refined to meet the requirements, like what happened with the U.S F-22A Raptor?

If you read the previous thread, I've already commented on this. The J-20 seems to be already largely planform aligned. There might be some fine tuning, but there won't be large differences.

Re: J-20... The New Generation Fighter

I don't doubt for a second that most everyone here has already seen these CGI's, but I figure I'll post these here anyway for the few who might not.
Here's another:

Well, I'm not impressed that you are impressed with an airplane that's been shown but not flown!

What happen if it starts to fly in few days time? Are you going to eat back your words or disappear from this forum??

Or maybe you will claim this J-20 is just Mig-19 with J-20 cover so just to fly up the sky and fool everybody China is developing a 5th gen stealth fighter??

Then I bet USAF will do a better job with their Hollywood. ;)

There's been nothing to hint that it can't fly, so why's there this strange assumption that unless there are photo galleries of J-20 assembly lines, cockpit close-ups, and beauty shots of it doing the cobra, that it's somehow a big farce?

I mean, name one piece of equipment that the Chinese have shown off that hasn't worked. Heck, name one time they've ever filtered out images of jet engine equipped "fiber-glass mock-ups." The pictures of the J-10 years ago must have been big fiber-glass mock-ups too?

It will today, and if not so soon. I'm more impressed by the fact that China is able to finally create a 5th gen. fighter given how comparatively backwards it was a mere 20 years ago. Did I make exaggerated claims about the J-20's performance? No. It was you who thought that the thing was nothing more than a static model when there is clearly evidence to the contrary.

Someone like him, who joined the forum mostly just to ridicule the J-20, will probably indeed disappear when it flies. Someone like Mwyrm(sp?) will stay and eat the crow though :p

Mwyrum is a solid J-20 watcher now. Let us not ridicule him for past mistakes.

Ironically Subedi was somewhat favorable about the plane at first. I guess he just wants to see the plane take off too.
