"Policies did this...pay more" Yeah, pretty much sums up the entire dumpster fire.
My predictions for the next 1-3 months:

I predict Trump will be dumping a huge chunk of their strategic reserves into the market to quell prices. I also predict that the impact on oil prices will be way less than they want to see because at this point, futures markets will price in this release of reserves as a temporary blip. I also predict that the US will take a long time to rebuild their oil reserves because the global commodity market dictates that a huge chunk of domestic shale oil production will be ear-marked for foreign markets that are willing to pay more. Does this mean that Trump starts imposing export restrictions? Hard to say.

Well I think something have already started in China for awhile. But these are more like individual social media initiatives rather than state-directed.

For example, this skit by the Chinese Trump and the Chinese Cowboy:

The Chinese Trump has said himself that his videos are more about humor and not meant as insulting to Trump. That's all passive stuff.

Why would he (the “Chinese Trump”) take up the anger and mantle from Asians (Chinese) and others living in Western countries? For what exactly? Some dumb solidarity?

Where were these self-righteous Asians during China’s nadir? Did we speak up and fight — not under the radar like most of us usually choose to do for self-preservation, not to mention for economic and security reasons?
I’m sorry to be raining on your indignation here, but it’s not his job or the job of any Chinese citizens to speak against the ongoing craziness and injustices happening in the West. After all, aren’t we supposed to be living in a real democratic society, which means we’re free to select and elect the leaders that best represent our dastardly values?

The Japanese did diddly-squat in uplifting Asian solidarity during their peak! Western companies didn’t even bother hiring Japanese ethnic leaders who were well-versed in English as American CEOs or top executives — unless they were women! Which is quite baffling when Indians seem to get selected quite easily without having to change their names, religion, or culture!

The difference between the West and China is the West wants everyone else to follow what they do. It's not because it's what's best. It's all about making sure they're in control. You don't see China whining about the US creating their own AI and not adopting China's. You do see that happening the other way around. The West wants the world to embrace Western values not because their values are what's best for the world. It's because they control what is valued and if anyone else wants it, they have to be obedient to the West in order to get it. Why is it that the West has a return to Eden fantasy? It's because they see technology as a curse aka independence from them. What is technology but being all about making life easier. So they have to push the idea that life was better "back then" and everyone should go back to that when it's really about creating dependence and giving power to the people who claim they're for what's best.
