It is too close to Chinese New Year, they either have to start the 3rd sea trial now or will have to wait after the CNY celebration is over. IMO 3rd sea trial will likely be happened after CNY, on either late February or early March.

They do, during public holidays there will be essential personnel left behind on duty, but most will be off. Also, this isn't a purely PLA matter, sea trials are typically crewed by technical staff from the design institutes and the shipyard which will almost definitely be on holiday for CNY.

Technically this ship is still the property of the shipyard Hudong Zhonghua, PLAN will only accept the ship after all sea trials are completed and only then it will become property of PLAN.

Also CNY is not just another holidays.

Your photo is from all the way back in the (pre-)WW2 era.

And here's the hangar deck of a Nimitz-class CVN taken in 2008. Nothing much has changed since then, other than the addition of some F-35Cs.



So what's your point?

I'm aware of the age of the photo. I added it as context. These aren't manned aircraft, NOR do they have tails. They could easily be stacked in numerous ways.

My point is that whats old is always new. I wouldn't discount any theories now that everyone has fully accepted drones are a major part of warfare.

I wasn't suggesting tying drones to the roof, but you can easily and safely stack them like a car park.

According to @伏尔戈星图's claim on Weibo, LHD-51 Sichuan's dedicated positioning calibration for carrier-based aircraft takeoff and landing operations, as well as the actual carrier-based aircraft preparation works, are progressing.



Man, I hope Sichuan can be commissioned by mid-2027, if not before the end of this year...

1. Commission Sichuan
2. Launch 004
3. Declare FOC for Fujian
4. Commission the forst 09V
5. Launch 1st 09VI
