Since you started with Slavs, I can add another example Croats. I have good friends from Croatia who "worship" Japanese tech, cars, social order, politeness etc to the point of repeatedly suggesting me to buy Japanese cars. HOWEVER what you described is NOT unique to slavs but common to all human, that is envy and worship the strong/mighty ones and pay less attention to insight and reasoning. There was and still is a lot of 精日, 哈韩, 崇美 among Chinese. Since you seem to be living in Hualian (Taiwan) I assume you are aware of the Chinese terms that I mentioned. We have seen Taiwanese Nazis, Russian, Ukrainian and Croation Nazis and even Jewish farrights, it is not surpirising at all that many people of all "races" look up to the strong and down on the weak. That tendency is precisly the reason of all evil things happened in every human societies.People on this forum over-romanticize Russia. But as someone who grew up in a Russian-speaking environment, and who is a native Russian speaker, working with Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians, I know that Slavs are extremely dismissive and condescending toward Asians. Especially toward the Chinese. They sling mud at China and its people. Read Russian forums, interact with them in everyday life, and see their attitude toward China. Russians are too obsessed with Korea and Japan, and they look down on the Chinese. They are unlikely to be a reliable or good ally in the long term, and China should still be wary of Russia, because treaties with them are worthless.
Although that evil can never be fully eradicated, we can hope and very likely see that evil being surpressed long enough to when the weak becomes strong, then human nature will work its way for China and Russia because by then China is the top of everything displacing US, Japan, Europe and Korea in almost every area, there is nothing else for anyone but China to "worship".
From Chinese experience, I can tell you that Chinese saw Soviets as friends and brothers in the 1950s, but quickly without a blink switched to seeing them as the worst evil than Americans in the 1970s to 1990s. Perception of Americans flipped the other way, turned from friends to evil then god-like being then the worst evil and will remain so for decades to come. All depend on who is being partner and who is opponent, there is never anything romantic let along overly.
If you really worry about (some) Chinese being over-romanticize any country then you are probably over-romanticizing Chinese.
