Russian FPV drones, "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky," controlled via fiber optic cable, are now capable of flying at a range of up to 50-65 km. The drones are abbreviated as "KVN." This means the combat range of these FPV drones is now almost equal to that of artillery systems. It's worth noting that after the introduction of the "KVN" drones, 11 Ukrainian teams announced the development of their own fiber optic drone, with one team completely replicating it. Alexey Chadayev, director of the Ushkuynik Scientific and Production Center, reported on the upgraded "KVN" drones. The increased range was achieved by equipping the drones with new fiber optic coils. The "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" drone can also now operate in standby mode and from ambush positions. Examples of this and combat operations are available on the channel. The drone has been equipped with an electronic target sensor, allowing it to be detonated either from the operator's control panel or upon impact with a target. The Prince Vandal Novgorodsky drone's payload capacity is up to 6 kg, but this is reduced when large fiber optic cable reels are installed. The drones are now also equipped with thermal imaging cameras. According to official information, production of Prince Vandal Novgorodsky drones is approximately 50,000 units per month.

Kinda wonder if this wont be a problem in the long run as given that Starlink is NOT owned or controlled by Russian forces, accessing and using it for a potential combat or reconnaissance platform may serve as weakpoint for the enemy to exploit. Who can guarantee the security of the traffic being transmitted or received. Especially geolocation information. Since Starlink apply Geofencing to prevent people from having mobile starlink terminal without paying the mobile package, Starlink will transmit its position and whoever in starlink HQ or base.. can tip the opposition force.

Seems to work well for now. Hitting targets as far from 230km from the front including air defense systems.

The first footage of Russian Kurier tracked robots in use for engineering purposes. Previously, the Kurier NRTKs were used only for transport and combat missions. The video shows the construction of an embankment crossing over a water obstacle using the Kurier NRTK robotic platform. The Kurier NRTK tracked robot is currently the most widely used in the Russian army.

The Russian Oreshnik missile system has entered combat duty in Belarus, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced. The Oreshnik ballistic missiles are presumably deployed at the Krichev-6 airbase in the Mogilev region in eastern Belarus. The deployment of these ballistic missiles will enhance Russia's ability to strike targets throughout Europe. The Oreshnik system's main advantage is its hypersonic speed, with a range of up to 5,500 kilometers. Oreshnik missiles, without warheads, were first used in November 2024 in Ukraine.

The Mi-34M1 light multirole helicopter, equipped with a Russian-made VK-650V engine, completed its maiden test flight. The VK-650V combines a modular design, high wear resistance, and a digital automatic control system that automates and optimizes its operation. The Mi-34M1 is a completely Russian development, designed to replace imported equivalents. It will fill a niche previously occupied by older Soviet-made helicopters and is also expected to compete with foreign light helicopters from Robinson, Bell, and Airbus. The Mi-34M1 is highly maneuverable and easy to pilot and maintain. The Mi-34M1 light multirole helicopter is designed for use in training, transportation, agriculture, monitoring, sports, firefighting, and other missions.

New Year's "Breakthrough" train

The final batch of T-90M tanks has been sent to the Russian army. The 2025 State Defense Order has been fulfilled.

– The volumes of the State Defense Order are increasing, but we are doing everything possible to fulfill our obligations to the country. We have put a piece of our soul into these tanks. May our armor serve as a reliable protection for Russian soldiers and preserve their lives, – noted the Executive Director of Uralvagonzavod Vladimir Roshchupkin.

Not only was a piece of the soul put into the tanks, but also small souvenirs, commemorative albums with drawings and wishes from the children of Uralvagonzavod Concern employees (Rostec) and tactical first-aid kits provided by the All-Russian People's Front as part of the project “Everything for Victory”.

The T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks continue to be constantly improved. At Uralvagonzavod, continuous work is being carried out to enhance their protective, operational, and technical characteristics based on the current experience of combat use.

I dont have the translation but this video (1:40) shows that the Arena is still being developed and it looks like they plan on putting a ammo box for the APS on the side of the tank. I always felt that APS had a too few of a ammo capacity to deal with the amount of FPS's we see now. Even Hedgehog styles of tanks take dozens and dozens of drones to destroy which is the high end of the amount of drones a tank may experience. During the early parts of the war I think the number was probably around a dozen or so.
