Well, take the ammo elevators (AWEs), for starters..

and the arresting wire system.
And problems with the radar, and toilets that can't flush, and not enough beds for a full crew complement. To top it all off, the planners somehow didn't design their newest carrier to be able to operate their newest carrier-based fighter. Honestly, if the USN didn't have even bigger messes on their hands with the LCS, the Zumwalt, and the Constellation, we'd have a much lower opinion of Gerald R. Ford.

Pray.

Afterall, their existing missile defense is wholly untested and really not designed with countering hypersonics (not to mention, if Russia is at 1st gen, China would be at 2nd gen).

YJ-21 is a fairly ordinary ALBM, not a HGV. Perhaps you're thinking of YJ-20 (which was mistakenly referred to as YJ-21 before the parade reveal). Also, there are no reliable specifications for it so I don't know what the other guy is talking about.

Oh yea my bad.

Although i think tusk was likewise thinking about YJ-20, so point kinda still stands.

There are some details about YJ-21 specifications, which I believe are from its export version display at Zhuhai. There are none at all about YJ-20.
We know its hypersonic.

And from its form, educated guesses can be made (general flight path and characteristics).

Which is enough to generally support what i wrote in terms of 'general direction/conclusion'.

i meant the hypersonic anti ship ballistic missile. i don't know what us ships plan to do about it since even if somehow intercept it it's metal flying at you at mach 10. sorry if my question raised any confusion

I'm afraid you'll need to be more specific, seeing as both YJ-17 and YJ-20 are anti-ship HGVs. But we have very few details about either of them.

let's say for the sake of argument, yj-20

In theory, SM-6 can handle interceptions in terminal phase after its SBT3 upgrades. Which is not ideal, of course, but better than nothing.

GPI is under development for glide phase intercepts, albeit not until mid-2030s.
