I dont understand the obssession with humanoid robotics, it is such a niche application. the only thing worth copying in the human body is the brain.
Wrong! Bipedal Primates, that is, for now, humans have the most efficient versatile body for performing wide range of tasks. Original bipedal primates like Australopithecus afarensis were not that intelligent but slowly dominated their environment because of bipedalism and dextrous fingers. Human brain is a much later evolution. Bipedals were successful for millions of years.

perhaps, but versatility is not necessary in most robotic applications. if one day robots can takeover most household chores then yes, but that requires the robot brain to develop first.

Because Elon Musk is pushing for humanoid robots and VCs think whatever path he takes is the correct one.

It's a good way to attract VC money. I assure you that the vast majority of industrial robots being installed in China right now is non-humanoid.

Similar situation with Tesla's, with its stock being significantly overvalued simply because of a good marketing and hype. A video that goes viral will do far more for a robotics company's stock value then outfitting a factory with robotics arms.
