PLA purchased 900,000 standard plates and 480,000 reinforced plates in 2020. Based on the distribution of reinforced plates on the front and standard plates on the back for each person, and excluding warehouse redundancies, etc., this can meet the protection needs of at least 300,000 infantry soldiers. For TW and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it is sufficient.
Thank you, I didn’t know that information, but yes it should than

Prioritizing the frontline troops and conserving resources from the rest is essentially the PLA's procurement strategy, as bulletproof plate have a limited lifespan.

Given China's industrial capabilities, when war really breaks out, the procurement department will be flooded with bulletproof equipment suppliers, it won't take much time to replace with higher-grade ones.

Given China's industrial capabilities, when war really breaks out, the procurement department won't even need to open Alibaba to be inundated with bulletproof equipment suppliers knocking on their door, and it won't take much time to replace with higher-grade ones.
I do agree, I just wasn’t exactly sure, so thank you

So shoes are garbo, plates garbo, nvg garbo I think China needs to step up and stop producing subpar equipment for infrantry man the need to raise the budget and allocate it the ground units cause this is embarrassing
Calm yourself with this doom and gloom mentality. Shoes just got a new replacement. Armor is fine, could be better, but it ain't gonna lose us any wars. NVG has also been updated, based on rumors, and even then, you're comparing it to the US, which doesn't even field as many as you think.

This doesn't even include the vast array of explosives, rockets, vehicles, drones, and other advanced technologies that the PLAGF is testing and fielding. Yes, the Americans have some things better than us, no doubt, but do you believe we don't have our advantages?

Clearly, someone in the PLA is listening and still trying to fix the issues, but users here need to calm themselves.

Lol the user is clearly not from and never served anywhere close to the military. Most of these reactionaries are "military enthusiasts" which their penchant for overreaction or doing chicken little screech should be forgiven. And no, cosplays and playing airsoft do not count..

I do not blame him for his reaction. There were some other long-time forum users of this website who also have similar reactions in not only this thread but others as well. This isn't me calling them out or even talking down on them. Someone else said it best: we've gotten too used to constant major changes and good news every few days or even every day now. China is now extremely rich in both money and talent pool.

Seeing all these constant improvements is, in some ways, to be expected, but sometimes people here fall to the American mindset that China is somehow too powerful yet too weak. As good as we are, we are still human and, more importantly, still developing. China learns from its mistakes; it just needs more experience and time, and that is what we have right now. They might do something we here don't agree with, but it's still a learning stage for the PLA.

people also inorge China only started modernizing since 2014, that’s only 11 years, the US on the other hand has had decades too fix their mistakes, China is a world class military but people just seem to forget it only started happening a decade ago

Can you refrain from spreading false information? Chinese modernization started in the 1990s. 2014 is when the first fruits of modernization began bearing fruit, and China closed the gap in most domains to within one generation of the West. J-20 first flew in 2012, and serial production of 052D started in 2012. These are projects that take a decade or longer to complete.

He is confusing modernization with reform. I don't think there is any specific time period when modernization can be considered to have started though, and reform does contribute to modernization.
