I just looked up the one crash with exact location (Akalia Kalan village) and it's 70ish km from border. Pretty impressive BVR kill, I mean yes PL-15 is rated over 200km range but that does not equate to no-escape envelope. Probably the longest range BVR kill thus far?

R-37 have 100KM + kills against MIG-29.
TheHindu newspaper is probably the most reliable of any Indian media. They are from Tamil Nadu. I think Modi and BJP are unpopular among the Tamils. They are more likely to report the truth than the BJP propaganda mouthpieces. But I guess Modi’s thugs threatened TheHindu to take their story down to save face for the Indian military.
How can we be sure it is an AA kill and not a friendly fire incident or a SAM kill?

We can't yet, I should probably add a disclaimer in my post but I'm lazy and it's looking far more likely to be air combat loss
There are rumors that 3 of the kills were AA and two in Punjabi were HQ-9.
We don't know. We can tentatively attribute one to each if you like.
But Indian blue-on-blue for all three would be a mark of extreme incompetence that even I wouldn't want attribute to them -- for fear of being called a bigot!
