I know you jest, but all of these recent resource finds are not really Mana from Heaven gifts.
Years ago, when China first started to put satellites into orbit in numbers, one of the first and most commonly deployed types are for geological surveying. At the time, most western pundits laughed that off as a poor disguise for military spy satellites, because again they are projecting their own priorities and mindset on China, that the first thing China would do with earth surface monitoring satellites is for spying on their neighbours, because that’s what the west did.
However, all of these massive finds China has been racking up in recent years is clear evidence that many, if not most of those satellites are actually for peaceful purposes, and China is now reaping the rewards of those earlier investments.
So rather than these finds being the result of luck and heavenly favour, they are actually the culmination of decades of hard work and investment. Meaning these finds are repeatable and scaleable, as the technology, knowledge and skills gained can be applied all across China and even globally, to allow China to pinpoint the most promising areas to focus its effects on.
In my ways, this is a microcosm into the different resource allocation priorities of China and the west as a whole, where the west pumped massive amounts of resources into the military as pure consumption, China instead chose to invest its resources to generate later returns for future generations.
