You know if you read western media, you should think Xi is doing everything to be the center of the universe and putting himself everywhere.

Actually it's the opposite I think. He's far less active than before. And for good reason. The world is in such a mess and China needs to take care of its own problems first. Only a moron would try to be involved in other people's problems when his own plate is full.

I kinda get why for a lot of History, China kinda wanted to be left alone doing its own thing. More countries, more problems.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed questions regarding the recent situation in northern Myanmar during a regular press conference on April 22.

Guo stated that China and Myanmar are traditionally friendly neighbors. Maintaining peace and stability in northern Myanmar aligns with the common interests of both nations and their peoples. China respects Myanmar’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and, in response to the wishes and appeals of relevant parties in Myanmar, is actively assisting in advancing the peace process in northern Myanmar.

To implement the Kunming peace talks agreement between the Myanmar government and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and at the joint invitation of both sides, China recently dispatched a ceasefire monitoring team to Lashio, Myanmar. The team will oversee the ceasefire between the Myanmar military and the MNDAA and witness the smooth handover of Lashio’s urban area. Both parties involved praised and expressed gratitude for China’s constructive role in maintaining peace and stability in northern Myanmar.

In the next steps, China will continue to advance the Kunming peace talks, facilitate an end to hostilities and promote dialogue, and work with all parties in Myanmar to safeguard peace and stability along the China-Myanmar border. (Reporter: Zhao Jing, CCTV)
