China's Population Crisis

I think the Chinese government must start lifting its one child or two child policies or whatsoever...

Gender imbalance have already been a major issue.. As we can see, Chinese preference for boys rather than girls.

If this trend continues it will become a major problem by 2025 onwards. Especially when the time that China's population starts to age, at the same time, a lot of males weren't able to find a partner.

Which will be a double problem namely: Limited Births, inability to find a partner. Which could lead to further population declines in the coming years (like around 2025).

If China's population births remains, it will really decline in the future (at the same time with huge gender imbalance)

There is a planned census, any body have an idea? I hope the government officials will try to adress this issue:

I don't want to see future Chinese men marrying people from other races, due to lack of choices within their own country. If this happens, China one day might become what is now of Europe (Started to be filled up with migrants from different races).

Now this might be a valuable topic for discussion and appropriate for China's internal security, but are you somehow implying that it's inappropriate for someone to marry outside of ones race and that a multicultural society is wrong? I'm sure that line is against some rules here, so let's try not to say things like that on this fine site.

China is over-populated, although there is enough food produced for its population, the government is struggling to solve the problem of creating enough jobs for all the new school and university graduates each year.

Chinese government has emphasied many times that the annual GDP must grow at least 8% to accomodate the ever increasing new job seekers. There is also high demand for housing and air pollution caused by millions of motor vehicles added on the road each year.

Gender imbalance and caring for aging are real problems but these are the prices to be paid for trimming down the population.

Personally I would like to see China to maintain or trim down slightly its present population. I believe it will be good for the cleaner environment and comfortable and more secured living of its people.

the birth control policy will prolly continue for another decade or two though with some improvements...they said that the high-point is in 2030 didnt they? so after that and as the baby-boomers start dying off in mass numbers there's no longer a need for the policy, so maybe 10-15 years before the baby-boomers start passing away should the gov lift or ease the restriction.

I hope the government does eventually alleviate the policy - there was something about Shanghai starting to consider a two child policy a few months back...
I'm just hoping they don't choose to disband the policy too late or too early - either option would be problematic.

Quite a few forgein observers say China's economy will fizzle out in a few decades like Japans' did because of its aging population, which is an interesting point the government needs to consider.

China in history has experience bachelor societies before. This is the typical scare-mongering propaganda from those that look at the ugly sides of their own cultures and what would happen if they experienced this.

China is overpopulated. Facts:

The economy doesnt have resources to give many of its citizens an develop world style of life;

Theres terrible lack of water, polution, desertification, etc.

The big problem is the aging of the population, coupled with economic inefficency (massive corruption, excessive weight of the state in the economy, and an economy based on quantity instead of quality).

China wont have any choise but to deal with its aging population, and combat the economic problems above.

However in order to deal with those economic problems, i suspect there must be political reform. The CPC doesnt seem to have the power and/or will to adress those issues.

The gender imbalance is indeed an issue, but don't forget even if there is a 1-1 ratio, it don't mean that all are gonna be married. Australia has a roughly 1-1 ratio but it doesn't mean all is married, or even to the opposite sex.

Now about this gender equality, yes back during the Mao era of rule, it was prefered to have male over female, cause they can carry the family name, while females could not. But during the 80's they're wasnt as big as a deal over gender preferance. Now for the modern era Chinese they don't prefer one over the other. Some still do, but that happens in all nations.

One child policy, government is being flexible to the terms now, keeping one eyed shut on the matter. While yes in general one child policy applies, they now allow average sufficient income earners, of newly weds to have 2 children. The rules being that both parties must be of only child in their family. Though many only want 1 cause they cannot cope to have 2, as they are used to only having 1 child. The countryside still allows multiple children to help the ederley.

If you've been to and lived in China for awhile, you noticed that the cities along the Sino-Russian borders, you get alot of Chinese-Russian couples nowsday. This could be due to the gender ratio problem in Russia too, were there is more females and males. So this could be the solution. China has too many males, Russia has too many females. On the side as a joke, mixing Chinese with Russian offspring you can't really give racist remarks to a mix nationality person cause its just too hard :D

BTW why is this in the strategic section anyway? This should be in the members disscussion section.

chinese men should hate mao, and i hate mao too. him and his ignorance led to a bunch of our women in foreign soil with foreign men, and also the same time led to some of those adopted baby girls now hating/forgot/abandoned their heritage. all because mao and his ignorance. of course the same time now there's an inbalance of gender ratio in china. i won't blame those baby girls, but mao, heartless parents, and his stupid policies. this guy and his ignorance led to so much deaths, backwardness, and decay in the civilization, culture, society that no one knows if china will ever recover completely from his retardedness.

i do thank those who adopted those poor abandoned girls.

anyways i hope CCP will undo what they have done; promote birth of girls. not hard at all: girls get an extra $100 or $1000 or $10,000 RMB cheque from the government

actually for any educated minds here, i have a question: if the baby boomers died out, will the gender ratio make a rebound? this is assuming generation from the 80's on are around 1:1
