How do you justify that if one person were infected, the entire floor would be forcefully relocated to quarantine camps? Or when you order deliveries, the security guard would throw them away, forcing you to buy food and vegetables from neighborhood committees what often overcharge so they themselves could profit off the deliveries? And if you have a pet and live on the same floor as someone who got infected, your pet would be brutally executed whilst you get sent to the camps? This was not a war footing like the siege of Leningrad. It was an overreaction to a new strand of virus that could not have been stopped in the first place. The surge from November 2022 to February 2023 proved that point. The whole 2022 lockdown was pointless to began with. It only let to power abuses that made my relatives in Shanghai who still hold grudges against the security guards and the neighborhood committee. They are still patriots, but they can never forgive the people who starved them, forced them to purchase hyper expensive vegetables, and sent their neighbours to quarantine camps (where the sewers simply did not work and forced everyone to sleep in jail like conditions) in Pudong for more than a month in. The whole drama was a farce to begin with. Who’s fault was it? The man at the very top who wanted a perfectly smooth transition to his third term and wrongly judged that defeating Omicron could be another one of his achievements. He did get his third term, but the whole Omicron lockdown drama rightly got him back with his pants down by November. When protesters in Shanghai finally shouted “Xi step down, CPC step down” during the November protests, they meant to vent all their anger and pain suffered just to so that the bear with a very little brain could have superficial 面子 for his political transition. When the iron fist of the CCP strikes you hard, you cease to be a little pinky. People are citizens and should be treated as so, not 韭菜 to be wasted for privileged folks.
wow, this is real privilege and weakness. Let's compare to other disasters.

As of 2023, they're still repairing damage from 2017. Imagine if Americans had even 1% of a proportional reaction.

From what I see, only the pet killing is really bad. The rest is a crybaby overreaction to getting toys taken away and emergency measures not being like normal times.

You don't know what's unstoppable if you don't try to stop it in the first place either. Usually medicine takes years for effective double blind trials to be run, and otherwise, you have to resort to emergency measures.

The only issue I've seen is that the iron fist of the party didnt strike hard enough to crush those little Baizuos. Shanghai was the only place with this kind of problem, which really reflected the patriotism and moral stature of the city. The richest, most degenerative capitalist city calling anyone "privileged" is laughable.

The power of democracies in action:

Remove require breaks for child worker.

"First-term state Rep. Roger Wilder, R-Denham Springs, who sponsors the child labor measure and owns Smoothie King franchises across the Deep South, said he filed the bill in part because children want to work without having to take lunch breaks. He questioned why other states where he owns Smoothie King locations, such as Mississippi, don't have similar laws, and criticized people who have questioned the bill's purpose."

The first part of your argument is defiantly true. Even if the Chinese economy were to crash tomorrow, there would unlikely to be famines or large scale civil war/social unrests that characterised much of Chinese history prior to 1978. The social structure and institutions are strong enough to keep the ship from suddenly sinking.

As with hopes for a better future though, the 2022 Omicron lockdowns really dashed many people’s confidence in the government’s ability to solve problems. Intentions were good, but when authorities to lock people up or forcefully evicted to quarantine centres, those who were charged to carry the operations at the lowest level of the power echelon REALLY enjoyed showing off their authority. Then you got all kinds of abuses you read on Weibo. And all those measure failed to stop Omicron. It took an uprising by November 2022 to force Xi to completely renounce the long-failed Zero Covid policy. By then, people’s hopes were dashed. China still has yet to recover from that social trauma.

The abuse of power at the lower levels of the nomenklatura style bureaucracy shows a failure of administration similar to those of the Great Leap Forward, but thankfully far less people died. No accountability or course correction what so ever until too late. Nonetheless, it has not stoped folks from questioning whether their kids could have lives.
Lol.
And what is your deep analysis of western population confidence in their govt which allowed COVID to run rampant and killed off tons of old folk in care homes?

Would you say it's a failure of democracy? Allowing special interest groups to guide pandemic response? Anti vaxxers harassing health care workers, so much so that there is now an acute shortage of health care workers? Are they still experiencing social trauma as well?

Would you also lament the abuse of power by Western democracies? No accountability to their constituents. Many support Palestinians but the us govt continues to bend over backwards for Israel due to corruption lobbying?

Your analysis of the above situations should be even worse than china, otherwise you'd sound real hypocritical.

All of the things you described are nothing compared to the lives that were saved. The same selfishness that you are exhibiting here lead to the deaths of more than one million Americans. Here in the United States, the reckless selfishness that is an integral part of the American psyche led to people going to bars, offices, classrooms, supermarkets, and other crowded public areas without masks knowing full well that they were infected with COVID. The people who got infected by those selfish bastards then took the disease back to their homes, unwillingly causing the deaths of their parents, grandparents, and immunocompromised relatives. I am not saying that I agree with every aspect of the CPC's response to COVID. I am simply saying that Chinese people care about other Chinese people, unlike Westerners, who are unable to endure even the slightest of discomforts for the sake of their countrymen.

Pretty sure deep down he only believes the imperialists had a thousand Covid deaths. Pretty sure he also doesn't understand that a one million person contraction of the population, in what is a mostly services driven economy, has negative economic impacts.

It's justified by the scenes that happened all over the US, especially NYC and NOT in China anywhere after the initial shock in Wuhan. If your family were real patriots, they would shut up and follow orders. If they cannot handle any hardship, and bare hatred the instance they need to suffer, then they are no patriots at all. The fault lies with the childish people who do not cooperate with national efforts. Whomever wanted Xi and the CCP to step down should have been hemorrhaging blood on the floor outside of NYU Langone waiting to die. They don't deserve their lives that Xi and the CCP saved. When the iron fist of the CCP strikes, patriots power the blow; hanjian complain about being under it. People are citizens and have a duty to obey the government for the common good; if they cannot, they are criminals.

Iran is most certainly not a Chinese ally. China has no allies in the Middle East. It has good relations with all countries. China does not prefer Iran over Saudi Arabia.

China will enjoy this from the background and focus on developing Chinese tech and economy. The biggest news for China? Huawei's new phone beating US sanctions.

Yeah, China doesn't have any allies, but It's good that the US instead has its gazillion "allies" in the Middle East and the world. With such "friends", I guess you don't need enemies. Saudi Arabia helped push Russia's oil and budget incomes to pre-war levels and did this price hike in the election year for Biden.

Israel has attacked in Iran, based on the explosions, it seems Iran was completely unable to stop it as well. They will have to respond in a huge way. Begun the Israel-Iran war has!!!

Iran will not respond with anything against such an underwhelming and weak response. They already did their historic response to Israel a few days ago which will be marked in history.

This is Israel already basically giving up on a more serious response and stepping down after doing this to save face and make some headlines about how they responded (but failed).
