That's old times, old man. China already dominates in several high tech sectors, has parity with the West in many others while it's still catching up in some. In virtually all cases (I used virtually because I know of no exceptions though I can't assume I know everything), China's moving faster regardless of being in the leading or chasing position. Meanwhile, as for the US "pushing the technological frontier," I see very little of that compared to pushing the frontiers of desperate underhanded tricks such as robbing its own henchmen and threatening them to not share tech with China, all signs of low self confidence and efforts in vain to keep pace with Chinese progress.Yes, china is quite well governed but China’s growth rates are for the most part - catch-up growth to the technological frontier and the U.S. is pushing the technological frontier. They aren’t directly comparable and all else equal outside of gdp per capita, China would grow faster than the U.S.
