Really, still thought I am a fanboy of the street venders who sells those stuff, while cleanliness is a question, there is just a thing about these street vendors. I am not a big fan of the chains, it feels so mass produced. For example I eat pizza from the pizza places in my town, but not pizza hut. I like burgers from small burger joints instead of BK or Mcdonalds.

I have never been to a McDonald's or any other Western fast food chains in China except for Hong Kong, which is operationally separate: they use to be great and we had Hardee's, Wendy's, KFC, but I don't remember seeing BKs. They use to be really good. Not the best food of course but the choices were tempting, including McDonald's Shogun/Teriyaki burger. In fact, when I came to San Francisco, I was so disappointed at the relative lack of choices for McDonalds's here........ those days are long gone and I don't recommend those places........

I don't remember seeing knock-offs of Western fast food restaurants in China, except for (Tim)美食 (Sorry, no Chinese input system, couldn't find the word on Google.) which closed down in the early 2000s.

When I went back last year, I saw a new fast food restaurant chain called 真功夫, the logo having a picture of Bruce Lee. It serves complete Chinese meals which if I remember right came with a soup/broth as standard. It's actually pretty good IMO.

Dude, you have been really out......... and not everyone is a teenager.....

By soup I assume bladerunner means the dark, brown stuff including meat, some herbs, and which are usually done according somewhat to medicinal uses, and you just drink the broth.....

And yes, we put peanuts(shelled) in it, along with black eye peas, a starchy root, etc....

Oh yea, you do know that egg fu yong isn't actual Chinese food, right?

With a small fee, I can be your tour guide and show you around in Beijing :D:D, assuming I can still remember anything about Beijing (I used to live in the suburb about 40 miles from downtown).

One more thing, do me a favor. Have a taste of "soy juice". It is a very controversial drink widely favored by locals in Beijing, but hated by those from elsewhere. My mom tried it once when she first moved to Beijing after college. She said it smelled like sewage and tasted not much different. But local people swear by it. They talk about it like some kind of addiction. People say that they can't go one day without having a bowl of soy juice. I've never had the pleasure to have one (lucky for me according to my mom). So why don't you try it and let me know how it taste?;)

Re: Your Favorite Foods...What you like to eat

 how many ducks can you eat in a sitting?
have you ever eaten peking duck outside china?
If I want to, and if I am not on a restrictive diet to lose the lbs I gained in college, I can probably eat two...by myself. As for eating peking duck outside of China, that is like asking me if I have eaten pizza from Mcdonalds. I would never eat Peking Duck outside of China, I tried it once here in NJ, but good god it was horrible.

Is this soy juice any of the following:
1. A blend of soy milk+anything
2. Is it a blend of soy sauce+anything
I can take the top one, but the bottom one is terrible. I mean I can drink vinegar straight but soy sauce? Terrible

Do you think they sell it in America? Because there is a Chinese supermarket about 10-15 miles from my place and if they do get imported then I am going to go find a bottle or two.
