Definitely not breaking news. But this article basically sums up that India and the rest of the "Free World" have no idea what the hell they are doing. Announcing yet another international infrastructure project just for the heck of countering BRI. If China didn't start BRI, would they even bother doing this? Compared with the already 10 year old BRI program, India and it's white masters have been announcing a lot, while delivering practically zero equivalents to any BRI projects.

This is the Indian media proposed route of that economic corridor:

Look at that. All of the countries on the projected route are either developed countries, or relatively wealthy countries. You call that the Middle East? Where is Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, and the rest of the Middle East? Not deserving of infrastructure from India and it's white masters? Wonder why Israel should need infrastructure assistance, but not Iraq? Yeah India, you're the ideal "Leader of the Global South".
Just how did I anticipate that ISRAEL would be a key link?
But, why no England?

They are expecting a 1972 US-China cooperation that destroyed the USSR. This time they hope Vietnam will be the new China and China will be the new USSR. Their media and social networks also talked about that event a lot.
I thought Russia is the new China, and yes China is the new USSR, according to that Indian snake oil saleman entrepreneur presidential hopeful.

Tbh though, in USD terms the US is spending more, way more than China on defence, both in % of GDP and actual $. However, as we all know the China price is much lower, I recall a US general once said the Pentagon routinely pays 26 times more in procurement than the PLA for a similar item. With that in mind and taking GDP in PPP into consideration, yes China "spends" more on defence, or rather "gets" much more every year in military build up.
A lot of estimated per platform prices are rather similar. But the whole program costs are much different, since one of them have crippling corruption and the other doesn't.

I'll predict that when the US finally accepts that China can make its own advanced semiconductors, they'll offer a deal to China that they will spin as great when it only works for the US. The US will lift sanctions on China buying advance semiconductors, but not the best ones, because the main point is they want China back to buying their semiconductors so their companies can money again. In exchange for that "great" deal, China will have to abide by US sanctions on other countries it doesn't want to get advanced chips, i.e. Russia. Basically the only ones that can buy Chinese semiconductors are China because the US will still impose restrictions on Western companies buying and using them for national security reasons. So in the end the only thing that will have changed is the West gets to make money again on what's going to be a pre-determined number of advanced chips China is expected to buy so the West can make money again.
I would expect China to just say no, as this offers no benefit, plus, public opinion is already strongly for championing our own companies.
A counter offer could be that China supplies whoever it wants, with US acquiescence, for the privilege of being able to access China's market again.
I would imagine, that for critical and high end applications, Chinese manufactured semiconductors would take great precedence.
US 'made' chips would become like Australian wines, able to be sold again, but with a very limited market of natural occurrence.
