China's SCS Strategy Thread

I don't care about the water cannon thing. My post was a general comment of the trajectory of the PH in regards to the US and China. Something that the Chinese leadership itself is aware as it didn't give an inch to Philippines when Duterte was basically begging Xi to invest and cooperate.

Imagine, China would rather invest more in potentially unstable African countries than in Philippines which is literally next door lol

The water cannon incident was just the catalyst, but the indication of that high-level decision to support the US have been there for months already
The question is if the economic issues from lack of growth opportunities will bend the Philippines back to more normal relations. Particularly if they don't gain anything by these actions, maybe even lose sovereignty over since if their chained territories.

Admittedly the damage to the general public had already been done and this will last a long time.

Are we getting another showdown when the Philippines tries to resupply its stranded garbage ship? Maybe this is China's strategy to erode the US's credibility in the SCS.
The carrier tracks show that the SCS bases are extremely important and it was 100% justified and necessary to build them. Without them, PLAN must rely on OTH radar and satellites for seeing anything more than 200-300 km South of Hainan while with the SCS bases the entire SCS is like a Chinese lake.

You got it the other way around. The watercannon is China calibrating its response to a base enough level that even the smooth brains running the Philippines can now understand the message China is sending them. The Philippines has already done the damage to bilateral relations and has just been too stupid to understand the more subtle messages China has been sending them previously.

The level of hysterical crying by the Philippines in the media is a reflection of the level of panic and helplessness that is now settling in as realisation finally dawns that they have badly misjudged the situation and pushed China too far, and it is not aimed primarily domestically or at China, but at the US. And is almost certainly a desperate gambit to try to force America’s hand in lending them support and cover by making a public spectacle after the Americans private told them where to shove their demands for America support to directly intervene as China pushes back in the grey zone.

All China has to do is keep watercannoning the supply ships (which it has previously allowed to pass for humanitarian reasons as well as for the big picture benefits while Duterte was in power) for a few weeks or months at most, and the few poor sods tasked with manning the Sierra Madre would be forced to leave to avoid literally dying. The Philippines knows full well that ones it’s troops leave the Sierra Madre, they will never be able to go back, and they will have effectively lost that claim forever.

Their claim that using water cannons is a declaration of war is a transparent attempt to drag America into the frame to escort their supply ships. Which America is not going to do as they will have to be stupid to start up an escalation ladder that China dominates at every level.

Whether China steps back after having gotten Manila’s attention or if it will press home the lesson by forcing the Philippines to abandon the Sierra Madre is a decision for Beijing and Beijing alone to make. But the problem is that with its silly rhetoric, Manila might be forcing China’s hand to just stave them off the Sierra Madre, since China cannot be seen to be cowed by such baseless one-sided hysterical claims. Because if it back off now, its inevitable that Manila will learn entirely the wrong lesson from this and come back with even more provocative antics in the future.

And we give up our leverage to the American ( more bases) for nothing, whoever devised our foreign policy deserve to be shot and I'm willing to volunteer to be the executor.

Number one on my list is Jose Manuel “Babe” del Gallego Romualdez first cousin of Marcos and current Philippine Ambassador to the US. loyalty to country is alien to him because he hold a dual passport.

Yes bro, BUT there is a distinction, Taipans are the captain of Industries because before emancipation they can't allowed to own land and so are the Majority of Hua Qiao, we have NO RECOURSE but to become industrialist and traders. The banks won't even lend us the money, so we established a shadow Binondo central bank to help us finance our business. From this shadow banking emerged the familiar name in Philippine financial institution (mostly owned by Taipans like BDO, METROABNK and RCBC) because they were trusted and most of those borrowers had become successful business enterprises and become a loyal customer.

Taipans are different from Chinese Mestizo, the former bring capital and build industries (they also funded and build Chinese school) while the latter are old landed gentry who used political means to enriched themselves. The likes of Marcos and the Aquinos are prime example of this oligarchy elite and are tied with the Catholic Church to maintain their status quo as most of the uneducated masses are religious.

So who are the Chinese mestizo, they were coopted by the Spaniard because business wise they were outcompete by the Chinese, they intermarried and become landlord, an extension of Spanish rule. They later finance the revolutionaries when they feel the tide is turning and switch side when the American's are winning. In a sense they're opportunist, they don't have any loyalty to the country BUT to themselves and Family.
If hostilities break out or tensions rise (eg a boat sinks) between China and the Philippines, what is the likelihood the yellow skinned (taipan or mestizo) in the Philippines will suffer the Indonesian experience?

I hope enough that the Chinese around the world will get to know the true nature of the Filipinos. Anyways a couple of filipino who I ship goods with, asked me if war was inevitable, and they are scared. A retired cop who from manila voiced all sorts of disappointment that they being dragged by the americans.

There will be inconvenience BUT not at the level of violence in Indonesia, most of the populace are Catholics and the Hua Qiao had fully integrated themselves within the Filipino society. There is also a lot of intermarriages, thru the centuries before the Spaniard came the Chinese had established an outpost in Lingayen Gulf and in the Ilocos Region (hence Marcos may have Chinese blood in him). I may say at least 60% of the population may have Chinese lineage and most of them are found in Luzon and the Visayas. There is a saying when there is profit to be made expect the Chinese to be there....lol During Spain pacification of the natives , some Chinese had converted to Christianity to be assimilated , they provide logistic support and are coopted by the Spaniards and become Chinese mestizo while others stay true to their roots and are marginalized. The Spaniards being fearful start denigrating the Chinese making them a 3rd class citizen (above the locals) and were discriminated, even inventing verbal insult taught to children like Intsik Beho Tulo Laway (dirty and smelling Chinese with dripping saliva) to dehumanized them. To feel secure They established a Chinese ghetto within a cannon shot from Fort Santiago. this ghetto become the First Chinatown in history the Binondo Chinatown.
