The White House threw cold water on a report published Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal regarding an agreement on the general outline of an Israeli-Saudi Arabia normalization deal.
They want keep prices reasonable so even US shale firms can make money. Arabs are invested in US refineries and firms. so they need steady supply of crude to operate them.
They've spent nearly half of the SPR last year depressing oil prices to fight inflation:

The overall outline make sense from Arab interests not the Israeli part which is more public relation. On Wednesday, the Wall Street journal reported that U.S. officials said Israel will make concessions to the Palestinians in order to facilitate the agreement. Those same officials estimated that a normalization deal between the two countries can be reached within nine to 12 months, though the report adds that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is in no rush to reach a deal.
Shortly after, the White House clarified that a general outline hasn't been agreed upon.
"Quite frankly, just to be blunt here, I think the reporting has left some people with the impression that the discussions are farther along and closer to some sense of certainty than they actually are," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said.
Kirby added that "There are still a lot of conversations that have to occur before we get there. Bottom line: there's no agreed-to set of negotiations, there's no agreed-to framework to codify normalization or any of the other security considerations that we and our friends have in the region. But there is a commitment by the administration to keep talking and to keep trying to move things forward."
India bans drone parts from China amid security concerns – Reuters
India has barred local manufacturers of military drones from using Chinese components, Reuters has reported, citing defense and industry officials. Concerns in New Delhi about sensitive data potentially being compromised may be behind the move, the report claimed.
Indian military officials told potential bidders for drone tenders at two meetings earlier this year that parts procured from countries sharing land borders with India will not be acceptable for security reasons, Reuters said, citing the meeting minutes.
The report suggested that this was an indirect reference to China, with which India is locked in a longstanding border dispute. Reuters also cited industry representatives who said the ban on Chinese parts has raised the cost of Indian-made drones as manufacturers have to source the parts elsewhere. Up to 70% of goods in the drone supply chain were made in China, Sameer Joshi of Bengaluru-based startup NewSpace Research and Technologies told the agency.

More like the authorities aren't being entirely forthcoming about what happened here. I'm willing to be this is entrapment and the "Chinese security official" is a US government agent.
Notice how despite his spying career only starting, he was already picked up? That's the giveaway. And they know so much about what he said to the "Chinese" official? Real people who were convicted for spying in the US went decades before they got caught - Ames, Pollard, etc. despite being very sloppy at times.
It reminds me of the '00 years during the WOT. Every month we'd hear about a terror cell being uncovered just before the plot was about to go down. Every detail was known about the plot including plans, who the terrorists spoke to and what they wanted to use. At the same time bombs were going off at train stations, airports, and festivals. How could police forces be so competent in some cases yet seemingly not know the first thing about the other ones?
Turns out the police forces were approaching young impressionable men in mosques, universities and on the internet (in some cases not even Muslim) and convincing them to become terrorists, radicalising them and giving them the means to carry out the attacks. In some cases they were honeypotted using an attractive girl.
I bet a similar thing is going on here. Entrapment cases are relatively easy to pull off, give the impression that government officials are hard at work and in this case generate politically useful headlines that the evil CCP is spying using disloyal Chinese-Americans. All the meanwhile the real spies are performing their job without hindrance because CI only get good at entrapment, and are probably not even Chinese).
I think we'll start to see more of these stories emerging as the America-China standoff continues, Chinese embassies in western countries need to start warning citizens that they may be approached by American authorities and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
