A few years I wrote a book on IoT in English and partnered up with an University in China and have their instructors translated that into Chinese. So the book is dual English/Chinese reference and it got published by a Beijing publish house and used as reference material for students. After that alot of books come out by others similar to mine in China. You set an example and others will follow.

Right now, I am trying gather EUV materials and do a presentation to another University and see they have interest in translate into Chinese and used as reference materials for students.
Hopefully I work with them to get it published also. The goal is start a teaching course on that. Overwhelming most Chinese Universities currently concentrate on IC design. Not much lithography equipment and manufacturing tech. Hopefully I can start a new trend across the country like before.

It’s an insanely hard field to get into due to lack of good reference materials.

I think that the trend is there But they are scattered across China, tending to the supply requirements of various foreign companies as well as Military/ Gov agencies. The capability requires investments and clear targets( to be self sufficient and best at Semiconductor fabrication supply chain). Write a letter to the CCP main office. Give a presentation to the main party officials. Create an action group/ think tank or join an already existing one. Do something that grabs their attention. Lol.
No, but seriously. Try to get te attention of the party by creating a Policy think tank. Maybe a good faith protest march ?
I'd pitch in. I'm quite desperate to see some progress. Unless you have attention from the ever power party, you won't get far. In contrast, we both know that the party can do wonders if it puts its mind into it.

Well, Whatever approach I will take I still put together my presentations and stuffs first.
Concentrating to build the required laser system to evaporate Tin droplet that generate EUV light is first priority.

Based on the research I done, building that ns pulse width 20KW laser requires a hybrid system that combines the traditional high power CO2 Laser Amplifier used for Cutting and welding, and pulse shaping format of the Oscillator is based on the solid state quantum cascade laser which used as seeders.

Does China currently have the capability to make the lenses, filters, and mirrors to tolerances compared to US companies?

Probably will be new venture for them, mostly in Shenyang and Beijing, that require hundred of layer of thin film deposition of Mo, Si .
On the other hand space project /satellite spying use mirror/ lens that require this type of capibility.

The talent, potential and resources are there. Just need a target and direction. You'd be amazed by how many foreign researchers can be poached IF you are ready to spend generously. I don't think it is realistic to have China be at the forefront of High-Technology supply chain alongside the US, Europe or Japan within 2025. But within 2035 ?! It is possible. China needs to plough in money and give its Institutes a target.

This takes utmost importance as US now switching tactics in forcing TSMC stop supplying to Huawei.
Finally it comes!!
