Bloomberg said:
President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian naval forces in the Mediterranean to work as allies with French warships in attacking Islamic State targets in Syria as his military stepped up its offensive against the terrorist group.

France has a naval group led by an aircraft carrier heading to the area where Russian vessels are operating, Putin told a naval commander of a warship in the Mediterranean Sea on Tuesday in a live video link shown on Russian state TV. “You need to establish direct contact with the French and work with them as allies,” Putin ordered.

Russia’s military doubled its attacks in Syria on Tuesday, carrying out 34 cruise missile strikes and deploying long-range Tu-160, Tu-95 and Tu-22 bombers from Russian bases to hit Islamic State’s heartland in the Syrian province of Raqqa and other targets, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said at the same meeting. The bombardment is continuing and Russia planned 127 sorties on 206 targets in the first 24 hours of the new stage of the campaign, he said.

Putin earlier on Tuesday blamed terrorists for the Oct. 31 air crash in Egypt that killed 224 people and vowed to step up military strikes in Syria to punish those who carried out “one of the bloodiest crimes” against Russians. An Islamic State affiliate in Egypt’s Sinai peninsula has claimed it blew up the plane in retaliation for Russia’s bombing campaign in Syria against the organization and other militants fighting the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Putin and French President Francois Hollande agreed on greater military cooperation in Syria in a phone call Tuesday, the Kremlin said in an e-mail. Hollande will travel to Moscow Nov. 26 after talks in Washington, D.C. with U.S. President Barack Obama to try to build up a coalition against Islamic State following Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris that killed at least 129 people.

This is pragmatic and smart. Putin will latch right onto this because he now has a major NATO player who will work with him.

France is interested in eradicting ISIS. They were attakced by ISIS directly.

Russia is now admitting the airliner was nbroght down by ISS, and want to eradicate them too.

IMHO, it is long since past time that the US administration back away from its own feckless policy and join forces to eradicate ISIS.

Daily Mail said:
'Heavy gunfire' has broken out in a northern suburb of Paris during an anti-terrorist police operation, just five days after the worst terrorist attacks in French history killed 129 people in the capital.

Shots have been being exchanged in the large police operation in Saint-Denis which began in the early hours of this morning. A special armed response unit took part in the raid and at least one police officer has been hurt.

Reports indicate 'two or three men' have barricaded themselves into an apartment in the centre of the suburb, which is currently surrounded by dozens of police cars with a police helicopter overhead.

Residents have been told to stay in their homes and away from windows and some have been moved to a temporary shelter in the town hall.

Reports indicate 'two or three men' have barricaded themselves into an apartment in the centre of the suburb, which is currently surrounded by dozens of police cars with a police helicopter overhead.

BFMTV and iTele both showed amateur video of the shootings and cited witnesses in the area saying they had heard sporadic gunfire since around 4.30am

The suburb of St Denis is where the Stade de France, one of the targets of Friday’s attacks, is located. On Friday three suicide bombers blew themselves up during a friendly football match.

French authorities have said they are searching for at least two people involved in last Friday’s attacks, which killed at least 129 people and seven terrorists

In all at least 129 people died in Friday's attacks, which have been claimed by the Islamist militant group ISIS. Seven militants died in the assault. Two are known to be on the run.

Unconfirmed reports suggest at three people have been taken into custody, although it appears the siege is ongoing.

The suburb's mayor, Didier Paillard, said transport to St-Denis has been cancelled and schools in the suburb will not open today.

The French Air Force has conducted yesterday Tuesday, November 17, 2015, his third airstrike on positions of the Organization Islamic state since the attacks of Friday, November 13.

Announced by Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian during the newscast on TF1 20H, information was subsequently announced by the General Staff of the Army on its website. The press release on this occasion stated that "in the continuity of raids for 48 hours, the Chammal forces bombed two successive Daech command centers.

The first strike began at 19:30 (French time). Both goals were destroyed.

"This raid was "composed of 10 fighters from the Persian Gulf (GAP) [Arab Emirates-United, Ed] and Jordan." It was composed of "four Rafale and Mirage six (2000D and 2000N)".•

Raids repeatedly since the attacksSince the attacks that took place in the heart of Paris, France, via air assets deployed on the Chammal operation, conducted three major air raids against buildings that were occupied by the jihadist State Organization Islamic.

The first raid was conducted on November 15 by twelve aircraft, including six Rafale, two Mirage 2000D, and two Mirage 2000N, which dropped twenty bombs in Raqqa, Syria. The first objective was, at once, a command post, jihadist recruitment center and armory and ammunition. It was destroyed by a patrol of two Mirage 2000D. The second objective destroyed four Rafale and Mirage 2000D was both a training and recruiting cells camp.

The second raid, which took place on the night of November 16 to 17, 2015, hired six Mirage 2000D and 2000N and four Rafale, always in Raqqa. In this mission, hunters destroyed, with sixteen bombs, "a command center that houses one of Daech headquarters and a training center."The third raid took place on the evening of Tuesday, November 17.

Details are available in the first paragraphs of this article. It is emphasized by the excellent availability rate for hunters engaged in these operations, including that of the Mirage 2000D and 2000N deployed on the Projected Air Base, Jordan.

Note that France has not waited for these tragic attacks to hit the United Islamic State. Operations are conducted daily over Iraq and Syria, and keystrokes are performed regularly and are discussed every Thursday in the press briefing of the General Staff of the Army.

In parallel, reconnaissance missions are also carried out to create a file with the different objectives which will be destroyed later during planned missions.
The communication of the General Staff of the Army has released a video coming out (finally, I would say) of the ordinary. It shows in particular the preparation of Rafale and Mirage 2000 by gunsmiths, taxiing aircraft takeoffs and towards Syria to hit their goals, and different goals awarded in three raids.

The most interesting images here are, without doubt, those of Mirage 2000N which is in the process of starting, in his ark. This is the first time that the General Staff of the Armed officially mentions the use in operation of the configuration of four GBU-12 in these devices. Note also the impressive array of strikes of the Mirage 2000N No. 340

Metro-UK said:
Two people have been killed in gunfire and explosions as French police carried out a raid in northern Paris early this morning.

A siege ensued after officers stormed an apartment early this morning which was thought to contain terror suspects behind the attacks on Friday.

A suicide bomber detonated her explosive vest during the raid, killing herself and seriously injuring five police officers, a firefighter, and killing a police dog named Diesel.

French media reported that another terrorist suspect was killed by a police sniper.

Reports initially came through of three deaths as a result of the raid on the residential building, however this number was later revised down.

Seven people have been arrested, with a government spokesperson confirming that the operation has ended.

One man wearing only a shirt was seen being detained by officers and led away in handcuffs.
