Or both in one, in this instance.
I have long been a fan of David Lynch and Twin Peaks is an all time favourite of mine (never forgive the networks for pulling the plug on series 3). In addition I like many others melted when we first heard the beautiful voice of Julee Cruse sing "Mysteries of Love" in the film Blue Velvet.
For a time she became Lynch's house singer and played a big part in the music of Twin Peaks a few years later.
I was delighted therefore to find a version of her song "The Nightengale" on YouTube, backed by a series of cast stills from the series, mainly from the shooting of the famous "Black Lodge" scenes from the final episode.
Lynch assembled quite a cast and younger members might be fascinated to see some very established actors/actresses of today when they were youngsters and just starting to break out. There were many older actors, already well established that are now some of the senior members of the profession.
There are also some old friends, sadly no longer with us. Among these is the very elderly man dressed as a waiter. His name was Hank Worden and he was already in his Nineties and had been a staple of the Western Movies since the 1930's.
Twin Peaks was his last working appearance and he died a year after the show finished.
Its a lovely song and a lovely trip down memory lane as well.
Could not resist as Y Tube has the whole Black Lodge segment as well in all its double reverse recording glory - cooffeeee
