ummm, the air chief marshal in the SAME interview said that PAF is looking at ordering 36-40 "F-10s" from China, which is superior to JF-17, and also FC-20s as high-tech aircraft in the future. I think the interview is quoted on page 1 of this thread.

So its pretty obvious that FC-20 is not J-10, and its not a public relations gimmick. You're making wild and unsubstantiated claims about the intelligence of an entire country's population, in a technical forum no less.

alright, this is getting a little ridiculous. I have a kanwa interview with PAF that stated FC-20 is referring to J-10. I don't know if you think J-10 is not good enough for PAF or what the issue is. J-11B is not necessarily better than J-10, and J-10 certainly fits PAF a lot more. If you are looking for other fighters, they are not coming along for a while. And I certainly can't think of what else China has to offer to Pakistan.

...but to make sure we're on the same track...won't an upgraded J-10 (with airframe, avionics, ECM/EW & radar improvements) enter production in a couple of years? I think Londo was referring to the 'upgraded variant' of J-10 as FC-20, not the current J-10A.

doesn't matter which version PAF gets, it will still be J-10. Unlike the Russians, China does not change the number everytime it gets an upgrade.

That's because Russian equipment keep getting a bad rep every time the US or some Western power goes to war, either rightly or wrongly... so they re-badge it to give a clean record slate.

Chinese equipment seems to be getting a strong reputation recently, so I expect the Chinese will work on continuing to foster a good reputation for Chinese arms.

to date, there's still no response from PAF request, but I suspect, if China do offer J-10, India will automatically turn to US for F-16,thus cementing the US-India miliary relation,I do suspect that China may wait for India final decision on ligh fighter project.

Feng,

I don't know why you need to react hysterically to a simply query?? We are trying here to find/unravel what exactly is PAF Chief meant by FC-20, when he reffered as other than F-10A. I know Kanwa article, that you mentions, but here in this interview he specifically makes the difference, so bear with us.

I don't think J-10 isn't good enough, nor do I think J-11B fits the needs of PAF. But its absurd to think that PAF officials woudl call the J-10 "FC-20" just for the sake of propaganda. Are you saying the Air chief marshal used the term F-10 and FC-20 in the same interview and meant the same aircraft?

I'm saying that in the Kanwa interview that I translated, they clearly stated FC-20 is J-10. And that there really realistically isn't any other plane that they can export to PAF.
