Faster pace of modernizing tanks

Something like this?

I see a tank that has to carry a lot different kind of ammo for all those guns. A lot of weight and a real gas guzzler, not to mention the heat signature for those missiles to get attractive to.:p

Because tanks like the M1A1 carry several different types of shells for different purposes anyway, all one has to do is to allocate those purposes over those several guns. Man you're really packing some heat as they say in the movies:D

Yeah but those M1A1 shells fits into one barrel from the same cartridge. Compare that to the other tank with various barrel sizes on it, meaning different kinds of specifically for each one.

Why replace them with IFVs if China already has a new generation of light tank in the making?! It even features hydraulic suspension and has quite broad tracks.

And not to mention, it looks like it has quite some better turret geometry and protection levels than both the ZBD04/A and ZTS-63A. It doesnt need to have amphibious capabilities and room for troop accommodation, which is why, with the rumoured 31 tons on Chinese BBS, this light tank might be one of the best protected AFVs in the chinese arsenal.

It has been so far spotted while being transported in Tibet, indicating that they are for the PLA mountain brigades there. But for the next hotspot on the Burmese border and vs Vietnam, these light tanks might also come handy.

i previously mentioned that maybe it's even better protected than ZTZ-96

anyone wants to comment on the 105mm effectiveness vs other AFV in the region South?

Well, people say that US have 8000 abrams, but it cost a lot to maintain such a fleet of tank. The 1st and 2nd generation of tanks in China is more like a mobile artillery that would provide more protection than IFV. I think investing in Airforce and Navy is the main priority as you want to denied enemy from landing and use air power to support 1st generation to modern tank.

For open land warfare, any direct hit from modern AT weaponry and air support will effectively mission kill a MBT. The advance of active defense (ARENA), BMP-3 turret and SPRUT-SD, are making it seem like the IFV are better suited for modern warfare and making MBT obsolete. However in situation like prolonged fighting and urban combat, MBT still have its value in it. Remember IFV have thin armor and in modern warfare, a 30MM cannon and HMG is sufficient to deal with it. Active defense does not protect IFV from smaller caliber fire.
People think tanks are cumbersome and cannot fire at highly elevated target in urban warfare, but in my opinion this is not the case. For urban warfare, you always need infantry support. With MBT's thick armor, it can take a lot of punishment and draw fire away from infantry. I think it is the tanks turret concept that needs upgrade. With the concept of BMPT, I would say it would be a fearsome urban monster.

I always wonder why Russia did not toy with the idea of having a BMP-3 style turret with a high velocity cannon (since it is heavier than ifv) you have a rapid fire 30mm cannon and a big cannon which is better than BMPT

No one single armored vehicle will ever be the answer for all combat situations and even unpredictable scenario ones. A well balanced army will always consisted of both a MBT and IFV one way or another. During the Vietnam war era people used to think Air Cavalry (helicopter carrying troops like the UH-1 Huey) will replaced the armor cavalry completely, but it never did. Different scenario, terrain, weather, and political aspects will always play a vital role in what to weapons to use.
