Making threats is one thing. Actually launching the missiles? Would never have happened.

The recollections of an ex French president under Psychiatric care are hardly convincing As previously stated, we have a long history of letting an enemy think we are doing something when nothing of the sort was ever truly considered. It's a very successful tactic that has served us well for centuries. The outcry if we had actually launched a nuclear attack on a non nuclear country? We would have been finished as a nation. Trade embargoes and sanctions from the UN for starters. All the support we received from NATO and European allies would have evaporated instantly. There would be no advantage gained by such an attack and huge cost to us. No sane person would have authorised such an attack and as I said, although PM Thatcher was many things, she wasn't mad. The Resolution class SSBN didn't go south. Any claims to the contrary are just supposition and intentional disinformation.
Why you left Hong Kong? China has nukes, why you left your colonies? economic reason why you do not leave the Falklands? simple you have nukes.

Galtieri knew the nuke threat was real, why he stop the effort and did not bring the Cuban and Soviet aid, answer nukes.
They are not empty threat, a threat always is real

Malvinas: Cuba interceded in the support of the old USSR to the Argentine dictatorship
Havana sent a plane to Buenos Aires with a diplomat to inform the Argentine regime that the shipments of Soviet arms would be carried out through Libya; The Brazilian military government provided logistical support

We didn't own Hong Kong, it was on a 99 year lease. The lease ran out in 1997 and the 'Landlord' was so impressed with the commercial success we'd made of the place they were keen to take it back. Indeed they made an effort to preserve the existing culture as much as possible (except for democratic governance of course) because Hong Kong is a big money maker. Imposing Communism on the colony would destroy the economy and China needed the cash; indeed they are changing the rest of the country to be more like Hong Kong.

The Falklands have a thriving economy too. They are self funding on every count except defence, which we provide for them in return for great training opportunities for our armed forces. Then there is the oil. We offered Argentina a 50/50 share in the development of the oil industry for the area. That money would have helped revive the Argentine Economy to a great extent. Instead they greedily demanded 100% and ended up with 0%. But you still have your pride of course... Could have had a jobs boom and money flooding back into the economy, instead you chose to be proud and poor.
