I wondered if deployed F-35s were grounded, too;

well one needs to read the text to find out

Terran's right, they are grounded until those fuel lines are verified good, or replaced by known good stock..... now having said that, if the bad boys came out to threaten the boat or battle group, Cap'n would ask for volunteer's to fly out and give the invaders a very warm welcome!

Naval Captains have broad discretion when it comes to defending the boat, that includes flying aircraft that technically are grounded, but are otherwise "airworthy"....

If he felt the situation warranted the risk, he would give the orders,,, once the risk is neutralized, then the Captain would likely be called before a board of inquiry,,, if the board felt his actions needlessly endangered the crew, he would face action, if they found his action's warranted, he would be fully exonerated.....

The number of F35B on the wasp is small they probably had there inspecting done in a few hours and any with the faulty part had begun replacement.
The USAF will take longer but they estimated 24-48 hours. So by now either half way done or back in service. The British did their check pretty quickly to.

I would've been the first to volunteer!

LOL! I think those who know me personally would confirm this

Good for you brother, as would I,,, I trust my equipment, and would be happy to fly out in defense of my Ship and Shipmates! I do have a great deal of confidence in the F-35, though I will always prefer the twin engine and planform of the F-22...

last week, more than 80 percent of jets have been cleared to return to flight, the F-35 joint program office stated Monday.

In a Oct. 15 statement, the JPO confirmed that all U.S. service and international partners have completed inspections of their F-35 inventories for faulty fuel tubes, and the aircraft that are not impacted by the bad tubes are back in flying status."

which might mean several dozen were affected (there's like three-hundred F-35s in total now)
