Yes Sir, I did and thank you for your "Amen",, I believe that each of us would be well advised to consider that "judgement must first begin in the house of the Lord!" and take that personally, no matter what your faith tradition? or your current "world view"... each of us here on SDF have an opportunity to forge a bond of love and friendship, and meet one another with kindness and grace..

I doubt world peace is possible with the current players, but I try to do my part to speak peace and pursue it,, sometimes that means making a strong defense, sometimes that means being ready and able to bring a strong offense to defend ones nation and allies.

That Brother comes from my desire to express the Love and Concern that I do have for our Brother's,, its never my intention to put a Brother down, but to educate him, and share truth,,, to be honest, I've learned far more from some of the Gentlemen who do not share our Faith,,,, but are our friends non-the-less..

I do realize that my manner may be a little "collegial" at times, and colleague's often "razz one another a bit", LOL, my Dad gave me some Krap, and I was occasionally the butt of his jokes, but I NEVER doubted how much he loved me.. and it gave me the ability to "speak up" for those who have no voice!

I have found however, that having perspective on the other teams hurts and slights,,, gives me a sense of compassion, and I'm thankful for all our brothers that might encourage or pray for us,,, we are truly blessed here on SDF

Battlefield Airmen integrate with F-35, improve air ground dominance

During the F-35 Lightning II’s pre-Initial Operational Test and Evaluation, Airmen from the 3rd Air Support Operations Squadron had the opportunity to work with all three variants of the Joint Strike Fighter.

Tactical Air Control Party Airmen coordinate air support with joint and international platforms, making this a unique opportunity to work with three different versions of the fifth-generation aircraft.

“We were able to execute close-air-support training scenarios and validate TACP cold-weather training,” said Staff Sgt. Gary Russell, Detachment 1, 3rd ASOS battalion air liaison officer. “We were also able to build the 3rd ASOS’s familiarization with all F-35 variants.”

Unlike other aircraft used for CAS, the F-35 utilizes speed and stealth technology to become a more lethal threat on the battlefield.

“It’s a little more difficult to control than some other aircraft,” said Russell. “It flies higher and faster than most aircraft we deal with, but it also gives us the advantage of not having to worry about as many surface-to-air threats. Because of that, we are able to focus more on the ground commander’s priorities.”

Alaska’s weather makes some tasks harder to accomplish than others; but as part of United States Special Operation Forces, weather can’t keep an objective from being obtained.

“Weather was our biggest challenge,” said Russell. “At minus 30 degrees, batteries drain rapidly and keeping them warm is difficult.”

The roads to get to the different ranges located in Alaska are usually unpaved and difficult to drive on, and with a couple feet of snow added it makes getting out there extremely difficult.

“Air Force Technical Applications Center, Detachment 460, was able to provide us with a Sno-Cat,” said Russell. “Tech. Sgt. Cyrus Freeman from Det. 460 transported TACP personnel in the Sno-Cat for 15 hours a day all week. This was a significant battlefield enabler and a game-changer in allowing the missions to flow smoothly.”

The F-35 Lightning II is a multi-service and multi-nation fifth generation fighter aircraft, making it an integral part of future operations for the Department of Defense as well as its allies.

“In today’s military as TACP, we are regularly exposed to a joint battlefield,” said Russell. “So any exposure to platforms from varying nations and services is of benefit to us.”

With the addition of F-35 Fighter Squadrons in the near future, along with the TACP Airmen of the 3rd ASOS, Eielson will be the force enabling the United States military’s dominance in the air and on the ground.

The Winners Of Trump’s Pentagon Budget—And A Few Losers

"With the defense spending windfall, many observers expected Trump’s Pentagon to ramp up purchases of Lockheed Martin’s F-35. But instead, the Pentagon has actually cut planned buys of the fighter in the short-term compared to the previous administration’s road map. The decrease is not a huge reduction—329 F-35s from fiscal 2018-21 versus 341—but it is significant given the increase in defense funding. Until recently, Air Force and

leaders repeatedly made the case to Congress that more F-35s, and faster, will allow them to rejuvenate aging fleets while bringing production costs down."

OK I'll post the article in the US Military Thread now

and why pray tell would a European "naval afficianado", who majors on dreadnaught battleships, and nautical matters, assume he had a "frame of reference" to label United States Airmen's statements about lowering their work-load and overall concern over Russian air defenses as "Hype", citing the airframes stealthy capabilities and sensor fusion as giving them a much greater "threat awareness" as well as the ability to "neutralize" those threats!

I don't know about stealthy vessels to extent that you likely do? (possibly your skepticism of those Naval assets stealth?),,,, but I can assure you that although anything that can go wrong, will go wrong in a combat operation,, US and Partner Nation Airmen have been very successful in the realistic environment of Red Flag/Green Flag operating the F-35 against every simulated OP-FOR

I mean are you deep with-in the intel community, and know of massive failures that have been covered up, or are you relying on your contacts with the former Soviet Military and their obviously hyper negative comments and ill formed opinions about the F-35,,, I would remind you that Russia is attempting to bring up a "full bore" 5 Gen, and have apparently had a great deal of difficulty meeting those challenges, particularly reducing RCS, and getting the izdelyh -30 into production and on the aircraft, that would give them a great desire to proclaim the "other guys" where having "even more trouble?" LOL

Now the Israeli's were NOT prepared to launch the F-35 against the Syrians, but that doesn't mean for one minute that there is any deficiency in the F-35, or its capability to "take out" Russian designed and exported Air Defenses,,, I will give you that those same air defenses are formidable and very dangerous! I harp on that all the time, but they will be defeated in numbers by the F-22 and the F-35.

and who doesn't like it, goes

this group is looking for every billion to be poured into F-35s, in the process of course trying to kill A-10s, not upgrading Raptors much etc.

Japan Might Buy as Many as 40 F-35B Fighters, Report States....

cc4c992c94125cfcc909adaea44915c7

This week, The Yomiuri Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper, said that Shinzo Abe’s administration “is planning to indicate the number of [F-35B] aircraft to be procured in the next Medium Term Defense Program, which is to be compiled at the end of this year.” The story went on to report that the Abe government is “mulling including related expenses in the fiscal 2019 budget plan, with a view to starting the delivery of F-35Bs from around fiscal 2024.”

Currently, Japan operates around 200 F-15s. One 102 of these will remain in service after being upgraded with more modern equipment. The rest will be replaced by the F-35B and the successor to the F-2 jet, under the plan being considered.

The chute, housed under a small fairing on the upper rear fuselage between the vertical tails, is unique to the Norwegian aircraft.
On Feb. 16, the Royal Norwegian Air Force completed a successful verification of the F-35A drag chute system at Ørland Air Force Base.

The system, housed under a small fairing on the upper rear fuselage between the vertical tails, can be used to rapidly decelerate Norwegian F-35s after landing on the country’s icy runways under windy conditions.

Although the chute is unique to the Norwegian aircraft, other nations flying the F-35A may adopt it, if needed.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Air Force is completing another round of cold-weather testing of the F-35A at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska.

“Receiving the

was a major milestone for Norway. The program delivers on all key criteria: Time, cost and performance. Through the verification of the production version of the drag chute on our production model of the F-35, the weapons system is expected to fully qualify for arctic conditions this spring,” says Major General Morten Klever, Program Director for the F-35 program in Norway’s Ministry of Defence.

The first three RoNAF F-35s have landed in Norway in November 2017. According to the Norwegian MoD, from 2018, Norway will receive six aircraft annually up until, and including, 2024.

Norway plans to procure up to 52 F-35A to replace its fleet of ageing F-16s, that will be replaced in 2021. The first two aircraft
