All this could have been avoided with a tug and turning the aircraft into the wind,,,,,, every run=up should always be done into the wind with cowl flaps open, engines are designed to be aircooled ,, and airflow is "Always from stem to stern" in normal ops.

This event could have been easily avoided by observing simple and well established aviation principles.

My dearest Brother in the Lord and friend forever! I am a much greater skeptic than you will ever be,,,,,,,, but the "ignorant little naysayer, bean-counters are first politicians, and then financial geniuses, (just ask them).

Your faithful brother in Christ, and Friend is a pilot/mechanic/aviation historian and very shrewd judge of character, in aircraft and people! (take a look, at whom I look up to on SDF???)

I am a very proud American, because there never has been, nor will there ever be, another place on this earth, and in this creation, where ALL men are accorded the honor, freedom, and wherewithal to reach their God Given Potential, it was and will continue to be a Christian Nation!

Our loving God is in the process even now of judging us, and He is Just and Righteous, and His Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is no doubt broken hearted that we as Americans have hardened our hearts, and turned our backs on Him, and His gracious blessing of abundance.

Having said that, I love and honor others, and respect their cultures and beliefs, unless they are anti-Christian, now back to your concern???

I will do all in my Power to create and preserve this greatest nation on the planet! that includes cleaning out my own savings account to buy they tools we need to defend our country and our freedom!

Lockmart has a faithful history of bringing us the very best,,,, ie, C-130, F-22, and now the F-35! If it were in my power??? I would restart a Raptor upgrade today, and build a few more F-35s until Raptor production was firmly re-established, the Raptor is a vastly superior aircraft...

So to suggest that your faithful correspondent was in-capable of making a sound judgement, and to base your own judgements on people who are politicians first, or at best selling magazine articles??? sells your old AFB short, but hey even the "Honey Badger" underestimates my pure genious every day, and I still love her and take great care of her. LOL

That my friend is why I NEVER make any judgements or pro-nouncements about Naval matters other than aviation related! don't doubt the brat!

    great answer, Brother in Christ
    God Bless the USA!

I thought that part of your post Wednesday at 6:49 PM which I quoted
was directed more towards Equation than me (but I felt challenged anyway), and as you can check, we both attached a Like to it
    LOL!

I post here for this system, Russians IRST are less good the first in 1980's only able to detect to 15 km.
Identify for the best up to 130 - 140 km, Russians max 90 km but engage to 50 - 90 km range clearly inferior to radar but can be efficient vs stealth fighters.

Air Force Brat we have a topic for fighters, A2A combat maybe o_O

as the good book says? "Iron sharpeneth Iron!", so I don't take your challenges personally, only as an opportunity to rationally and methodically state my own observations, and strongly held opinions..

There is a lot of money to be made, as well as influence peddling in weapons contract, and it is very political? so that makes any defense contract "suspect" and gives the "nervous nellies" something to yak up, in order to make themselves and their kind appear more knowledgeable than they really are, and cast aspersions on good men and women, and the amazing aircraft they build, in the case of LockMart!

as I stated, these highly effective aircraft deserve the honor they have earned, not the criticism of those who make a living "trashing them and their designer/manufacturer!

Now its perfectly fair to point out legitimate shortcomings and press for correction and possibly even compensation when they fail to perform as expected and promised!

I had just rolled in from Panama City Florida, left there at 7:20 AM and arrived home in Central Obamastan at 12:30 AM,,,, now I'm up enjoying the sunburn pain on the tops of my feet, and while my top half isn't in pain, it is now in full peel like an onion, so some nice Panama Jack aloe?? Yes I sure have bought the Solarcain spray on stuff! LOL

My first trip to Florida in exactly 50 years, I did see a pair of T-38s, and several flights of F-15s flying down the beach, and I also rented an aircraft and a check pilot for my own flight down the beach with Mollie and Macy, poor Baxie stayed at the Hotel with the "Honey Badger"!

I did visit Nashville, TN on the way down, and pulled into the front gate at Arnold AFB, TN, where we have our fastest wind tunnel, an F-105, F-15, and F-14 are on pedastals outside the front gate!

The last time I was there, my Daddy was checking out in the Combat Talon 1 at Hurlburt AFB, FL., probably about 6 or 7 months prior to my avatar pick, which came from South Vietnam, somewhere in the delta around Saigon, so this brought back a lot of memories! and Donna, Baxie, Mollie, and their friend Macy, who accompanied us on our trip had a blast.

Donna had been promising to take the girls to the beach since they where about 10, so it only took the old man 9 years to get in the mood,,, I loved Ron Jon's surf shop??? and want to buy a surf board?? LOL

and I visited the Lighthouse Beacon's world famous?? Tiki Bar, and I did in fact witness and observe several HULA DANCE'S, I don't know how they do that, but that was a first for me, several lovely Hawaiian chicks and a young dude, "The Chief" performed the Hula, and the young gent did the fire dance, all impressive, and part of the experience. I am amazed at the beach access we had, and I would highly recommend a stay at the Lighthouse Beacon Resort, in Panama City Beach for a visit, and as for Ron Jon's, a very cool place, and I've had a desire for a surfboard since I was eleven.

We did rent the Yolo boards, I had to sit on mine, but my daughter Baxie and Macy did stand up on their boards, it was a lot of fun playing in the surf, I also bought a "boogie board", which we all enjoyed, but just enough flotation to drown the old fat pilot, danged thing tried to drown me twice,,, I'm NOT a strong swimmer, you probably can't even call what I did swimming??

and I just had one of those strange dreams about substitute teaching in a neighboring school, and having waves washing up to the school and needing to evacuate the school?? all here on the grand prairie, though we do have the Illinois and Mississippi flood plains nearby....

The Honey Badger is now talking BOAT,,,, which I better strike while the iron is hot,,,??? I'm thinking fish and ski, not that I would ever try to ski, my Father in law was quite a skier, "he would light a cigarette, have the boat pull him off the beach, ski and while and then drop off and ski up to the beach with the lit cigarette still in his mouth??? but he was a real old NAVY GUY! those guys can do dang near anything and make it look easy?? Look at BDPopeye!

but she did tell me I am NOT buying a surf board??? Hey, they're only 400 bucks at Ron Jon's....
