Yes, and with the 22DDH and the Dokdo, and with the F-35, I believe they both will have them. The Koreans are supposed to build one or two more Dokdos, and they already have three large AEGIS destroyers (more like cruisers) and other KDX vessels to escort them.

The Japanese have six AEGIS destroyers and plenty of other smaller DDGs and FFGs to do so...not to mention their three Osumi LHDs. Soon the Japanese will have three LHDs (Osumii), two CVHs (Hyuga) and two CVLs (22DDH).

Here's what a JMSDF Carrier task force might look like:

I will take some time and put together a similar picture of a Korean one...and maybe later a Australian one for reference and post them here. I really believe the F-35B is going to revolutionize sea control carrier capabilities.

...and the video in the first post on this thread actually shows them operating off of an American Wasp class...which is really neat to actually see already happening as they test and qualify.

compared too the only other fighters capable of taking off form a non cat flat top with out arresting ( read STOBAR) the Harrier and a few russian Yak models that never left development really. you have a super sonic multirole with good avionics f16 maneuverability and stealth. F35b once the teething stops was built for the job of turning amphibs into true multi role carriers.

The larger missiles in the belly bay are ejected before they're fired, but the short range ones in the side bays are launched from the rail.

You are thinking of the F-22. The F-35 has two bays, both under the aircraft and no side bays.

    Here's a good pic:

THank you. I have been tracking and analysing naval matters, particularly in the WESTPAC for many years.

We are seeing some really interesting and neat developments as a result of conditions right now. I pray cool heads prevail and the intended deterrents each country is developing work. If they do, then we will simply be treated to very technical, interesting and strong naval technology development over the next few years.
