These self-defense upgrades are worth it for the ships that are <20yrs old as they still have enough useful life left and can augment either 056 or 054 in their duties.
Meantime seems a third !
To Lüshun ( 10th Destroyer Flotilla ) one with main gun, HQ-7 removed based there 564 and 565 so possible she
527 and 528 recently transfered to Sanya rattached to a Light Frigate Squadron with two 056

Pretty good video, tells me what I was looking for.

The CIWS is definitely a 730, not the 1130 which has a more squarish housing. The ones without the radar and EO on top are the 730B, which has the Type 347G and the EO located on a mount behind and between the two guns. Two CIWS with self mounted radars close together can potentially interfere with each other's radars.

The main radar looks to me like a Type 363, replacing the previous Type 360S. The way to tell is from the back of the radar as it swings around. The newer 363 has like dual spines on the back, with two bars going across for a tic tac toe pattern, the 360 has more of lattice behind its back.

Tongling, no. 542, being decommissioned and refitted, to be donated to Cambodia. She is the last of the Type 053H2.

One of the pictures showing her retired armament has a brand new Type 056 being fitted in the background, along with frigate no. 521 Jiaxing, a Type 053H3, being refitted.

Can someone explain why China is not decommissioning any old ships like the Jianghu's while new once are being inducted all the time.

Depending which model of Jianghu, some still have decent life left in them. So China is not pursuing a policy of replacement with these vessels, rather new builds being inducted are used to grow fleet size. When a respective Jianghu unit does reach end of life, whatever new build then will be replacing it. Just my guess.

There isn't a pressing need anymore to transfer older navy hulls to the CG. There isn't much of a market for resale either. Donating is possible but it appears smaller shipyards rather sell new builds such as Bangladesh and Nigeria with 056 variants.
