559 Foshan was commissioned with South Sea fleet in 1994 June. It still has 10 more years to go before retirement.

This frigate is part of SCS patrol flotilla, though it is old designed hull, for patrol duty it has been fitted with more advance gear for surveillance and data gathering than larger destroyers like 052C.

I sincerely hope not. 559 having more advanced gear for surveillance and data gathering than a type 052C would make the latter inferior even though it is a much later build and larger class of warship.

Once there is enough type 056s commissioned, early retirement of the 053H1Gs would be logical to redeploy crew resources onto more efficient vessels, The YJ-83s are the same between the two classes and can be reused too.

The surveillance gear put onboard these SCS patrol flotilla frigates is said optimised for taking photo, video, radio messages, radar/ electronic position tracking etc. These will be used as evidence in any conflicts or any affairs that require strong argument. In this respect, it is said that these frigates are better at this job than 052C since they are outfitted specifically for patrol missions.

During the recent US Navy DDG sailing in SCS followed by a 052C DDG and a 053H1G frigate reinforced this view. Some said the 053H1G was deployed to ram the US ship in case things go ugly, but others said that 053H1G was there because it has better surveillance gear for recording the event.

Is anyone has any info with planned future acquisitions current status???

1- 4 FFGs (same F22p class with some modifications).
2- 6 FFGs (in the line 054A type class).
3- 8-10 OPVs (in between 056 & C28A).

However, 8 SSKs are final (Yuan/S80/Quing).

Submarines and OPVs I understand, but why does Pakistan need so many FFGs Does Pakistan need a blue water force, or is the money better spent on littoral defense?
