Not sure if the story is real or not. Nonetheless, it sure was an interesting read.

The Air Force recently said it would cost about $100 million to fix structural weaknesses discovered in 73 F-22s. Last month, a fighter pilot had to be cut out of his F-22 with a chain saw when the canopy would not open.

As a taxpayer i'm just happy of the cost reduction of the repairs after this incident. I read a report that when this happened it was estimated to cost $7,000,000 per plane to repair! That is incrediable. If I can find the link to the story I will post it.

As far as numbers are concerned. Only 12 F-22's are in an operational squadron. 24 are being used to train up two new squadrons and the rest..are probally laid up in hangars somewhere wasting US taxpayer money....Oh brother...

As someone who has been involved in this sort of "aircraft recall" uasally a rework team comes from the factory to do the repairs. In this case I do not know what will happen.
