This is a news report about the aquisition of 20 f-22s in 2007. apparently McCain doesnt want voters to find half build planes lying in hangers(the original plan)...

The end:
The Air Force recently said it would cost about $100 million to fix structural weaknesses discovered in 73 F-22s. Last month, a fighter pilot had to be cut out of his F-22 with a chain saw when the canopy would not open.

pretty good confirmation

As a taxpayer i'm just happy of the cost reduction of the repairs after this incident. I read a report that when this happened it was estimated to cost $7,000,000 per plane to repair! That is incrediable. If I can find the link to the story I will post it.

As far as numbers are concerned. Only 12 F-22's are in an operational squadron.:( 24 are being used to train up two new squadrons:) and the rest..are probally laid up in hangars somewhere wasting US taxpayer money....Oh brother...

As someone who has been involved in this sort of "aircraft recall" uasally a rework team comes from the factory to do the repairs. In this case I do not know what will happen.
