Think of it this way, a system evolving around an AWACS plane is like a computer system evolving around a main frame and client computers while a swarm is like cloud computing. When the AWACS goes out the entire system goes down similar to a mainframe going down while in swarm even if a single server goes down there is only minor effect to the entire system.

The F-22 is functionally an AWACs as is the F-35, precisely foar the reasons you mentioned, the F-35 will bring unprecedented situational awareness particularly with the HMS system, ACC commander Mike Hostage has "dictated" that every training mission will "fail" some aspect of that system?

New 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall for 2014 remove the 7 FS based at Holloman and all frontline suqadrons will then 24 F-22 except maybe the ANG 199 FS squadron at Hickham ( Hawai ) now he get 20 F-22.

Holloman ( N. Mexico ) : 49 W : 7 FS : 20 F-22 , had the 8 FS inactivated in 2011.
Elmendorf ( Alaska ) 3è FW : 90 et 525 FS :40 F-22
Hickam, ANG ( Hawai ): 154 W : 199 FS : 20 F-22

Each squadrons use 20 F-22.

OCU :
Tyndall, Floride 325 FW 43 FS 31 F-22

OEU, test :
Nellis ( Nevada ) : 57 W 422 Test Ev Squ 4 F-22 ; 433 Weap Sq about 6 F-22
Edwards : 412 Test Wing 411 Fl Tr Squ about 5 F-22

195 F-22 built : 8 for test and 187 for operational.

No smoke involved, Jura.

When an aircraft performs high-g manuevers, the pressure on the wings or other surfaces due to those manuevers causes the water vapor in the air to condensate and form those clouds. Depending on the amount of water vapor in the air, the tem,perature, and the extent of the manuevers, the resulting "clouds" can be larger or smaller.

This is different than the "cloud" produced when an aircraft goes trans-sonic at the speed of sound. There, you have a definitive cone shaped cloud that forms around the aircraft. The converse portions of the aircraft cause a quick decrease in pressure and temperature over those surfaces due to air flow at that speed. Those changes in pressure and temperature cause water vapor in the air to condensate and form the cloud. The change in air flow and the creation of the resulting cloud at trans-sonic speeds actually have a name. It is called a Prandtl-Glauert Singularity (which is actually a misnomer because they believed in the early 20th century that something approaching infinite pressures would be experienced by an aircraft as it approached the speed of sound causing a "singularity." Of course, since that time, as we passed the speed of sound, we found that that is not the case, and that although aerodynamic and thermodynamic changes and flucuations are amplified, they remain finite as you go supersonic and no singularity forms. But the name stuck just the same.) Again, as before, in this case, depedning on relative humidity, temperature, altitude, shape of the aircraft, and accelleration, the cloud that forms can differ.

Actually Jura, these guys really don't know all there is to know about the "alien fighter". The truth is the Raptor was developed from the technology of our alien bird at area 51, people wonder why no one else has a true fifth gen, in fact the vapor cloud immediately proceeds the RAPTOR's jump to the FIFTH DIMENSION, actually Jeff knows this but, he had to take an oath of secrecy, being the Air Force Brat, I am allowed to share the secret, but only with those who are worthy. Now you know, but don't tell chief, the jury is still out on that boy???? brat

I mean, if we can build both versions of the LCS, we could have built both versions of the ATF!
