Re: Latest Varyag Info and Photos

MALD? Miniature air launched decoy? What do decoys have to do with the topic here? or were you talking about something else? If so, what? Datalink ability concerning mald variations (none of which are yet in service, save for the basic mald) is completely another matter.

Once again, yes, in the future f22 and other platforms will communicate with each other nicely and share data but TODAY, f22 does not communicate with other forces.

And yes, f22 does have higher cruise altitude than most other fighters. How much higher is anyone's guess, id say some 10.000 to 15.000 feet. With strong enough radar, that should come in handy against very large RCS targets against clean backgrounds like destroyer sized ships on the horizon.

MALD??? Ugh, my bad, I meant MADL. F'in alphabet soup of US military jargon! MADL is coming on line now, but if you listen to what some USAF pilots are saying after Red Flag exercises, they are claiming at least that they already have some ability to provide targeting for cooperating F/A-18's and F-15's.

I like chinese students... full of dreams, full of patriotism...
But often with a lack of arguments...:D

You are correct in some cases. However >>>>He's not Chinese. He's from Pakistan. I'd really like him to answer..:coffee:

Be all that as it may, right NOW (and in the next few years) raptors will be able to share data with other non raptor platforms only through radio. Which is still fine, i know there were plenty of claims from various exercises where such integration of raptors with legacy fighter formations was still very much efficient in bringing down the enemy flights.

I definitely don't think trying produce a comparable fighter is in China's best interest. Not only will it be a difficult effort to keep up with US research let alone best it, it doesn't not serve China's mission of ensuring security with its immediate neighbors. I think ground based AA is still the best way to go because it's cheaper, more mass-produceable, and does not require highly trained personel. It would also be more cost effective against lower tech threats from China's more likely enemies.

I know the F-22 is superb, but I wouldn't say it's invincible or anything near that. Here are two forums talking about the Eurofighter Typhoon doing surprisingly well against the F-22. No specifics (boooh), just general statements.
