EQ2050 HMMWV and roles of light combat vehicles

Is EQ2050 HMMWV going to replace the BJ2020S series light utility vehicles? Or is the replacement the BJ2020 follow-on (

)? I'm confused, why would they need two kinds of vehicles that could perform the same roles? Is the SQF2040 in service as air-defence, or is it still a prototype?

I'm thinking the follow-on will replace them, while the EQ2050 has more potential as a light combat vehicle for special forces, used in the same way as the FAV or the all-terrain vehicle. If the QL550 light armoured vehicle goes into service, it should act as a convoy escort or APC for the airborne. Although it has the potential for special forces, it seems too heavy, which would make the EQ2050 HMMWV a better choice. The ZFB05 XinXing seems to be made only as an APC for the PAP that can travel well in urban areas, because I see no role for it in the PLA, since the light armored APC role is already covered by the QL550.

It seems like all the vehicles can cover the roles of others, but they are specialized in specific tasks, so each cannot be dismissed just because its role is already filled.

EQ2050 has a crutial weakness: it still depends on U.S.-made components. That's why the PLA is unlikely to order it in significant numbers. While a small number of EQ2050 may be serving with the PLA, the majority of BJ2020S in current service will be replaced by the new BJ2022 'Brave Worrior' as the new light utility vehicle.

According to your website, it now says the EQ2050 uses indigenous components. So, I am still wondering whether the EQ2050 is a replacement for BJ2020S, because EQ2050 is about the same size as BJ2020 'Brave Warrior' with more power, and considering how BJ2020 has no production contracts yet.

yes, the latest report confirmed that the EQ2050 was finally being 'indigenised'.

However, it is still not a replacement for BJ2020S as they are not on the same weight class. The BJ2020S and BJ2022 are 0.5t class utility vehicles while the EQ2050 is 1.5t class 'truck' (same as NJ2045/2046 and EQ2061E).

I was wondering because the United States military operates HMMWV instead of something lighter for army personnel transport, so maybe introducing the BJ2020 as replacement is a cost saving measure.
