Sony did just that and there was a big DDOS attack over Christmas that crippled its Playstation Network and also took down the rival XBox version.

That is quite an escalation, and I expect a lot of ink, both real and digital to be shed over it in the coming days and weeks as newspaper 'journalists' return from the Christmas and New Year breaks fuming at not being able to play their favourite games online during their precious time off.

I've been watching CNN and so far I haven't seen them mention this once. So bold in their assumptions over the Sony hack but quiet now? Isn't it news people want to know about?

A follow-up... It looks like the threat to CNN may have been a prank and the FBI sent a warning out that it was from the same hackers that attacked Sony. So what about North Korea being responsible for the attack on Sony if they're so quick to point the finger, wrongly, from a prank?

US Centcom's Twitter and Youtube feed have just been hacked by a group claiming to support Islamic State with documents detailing scenarios concerning China and Korea leaked.

ISIS trying to stir tensions between the US and China? Interesting after Anonymous declared war on "terrorism" ISIS shows off basically Anonymous tactics. That's if they're actually behind it.

Have you got more details regarding the news, as documents and twitter doesn't exactly mix together, or with youtube.

Whilst there doesn't initially appear to be any significant breach of the US military network, the hackers used the twitter account to post a pastebin link that contains the download links for the documents. The impact of the documents will almost certainly be low (and they're nothing that would be classified), but it highlights the difficulty in keeping all access points secure whilst simultaneously maintaining a user friendly system.

We need to see more of an introduction of multi-factor authentication and perhaps biometric identification if we're to prevent people setting passwords like "pass1234" that could compromise more important aspects of the network.
