CX-1 Cruise Missile

Looking at the missile, I have a question, where is all the targeting components and more importantly where is the warhead placed?

It's a big missile for sure but with the air intake at the front going down the center which I imagine would be hollow where is the payload placed?

It can't be in the rear of the missile since that is the first stage rocket booster and right after there would be actuators to turn the fins. The middle would be the combustion chamber so no payload there either.

This is the schematic for Brahmos. Maybe CX-1 is similar.

according to the drawing/image on the poster, diameter/length ratio is the same as with brahmos. As to actual diameter and length, that's harder to guesstimate, but unless those people around it are really short or really tall, it should be around 60-65 cm in diameter. Meaning 8.4 meters to 9.1 meters long.

Sorry but that is a pretty crude representation that has a lot of things left out.
Ram jets without moving parts needs batteries and a rather large one to supply electricity to both the targeting system as well as the ignition system to maintain combustion to the fuel.
If there is a miniature generator then they left that out and all the required supplemental electric sub-systems to regulate the electric supply as well.

Those things takes space.

It's a simplified diagram so likely they lumped a lot of things into each region. For example, the seeker part of the missile is actually this mess here:



I think the internal space is larger than appeared from outside and that you will have space for everything needed.

If it is true, then there is NOWAY that CX-1 is for export ONLY. BTW, this year is the 25th year of Western arms embargo against China.

A detailed specification is not available though. Maybe once it has export clearance. But it does answer your question on the location of the seeker and warhead. Apparently, Brahmos Aerospace managed to fit all of the above and still managed to make it lighter and smaller while making it better.



Brahmos-M has better specs in terms of weight and speed. 1.5 tonnes and mach 3.5 while being 2.5 m shorter. Range is between 140 and 600 Km depending on the profile, the same as Brahmos-I, it may even be better for all you know. It's being designed for multiple platforms, primarily for lighter aircraft like the Rafale and Mig-29K.

No, but it was the same test ship which tested the 052D's VLS.

It could still be for export only. It just means CX-1 can be fired from the same common VLS as 052D meaning it'll naturally have been tested from the testship

also, I'm not sure if that missile is CX-1. Looks a little bit short.
