In addition, during the construction process it was possible to see that the hangar was not extended to the foredeck.

We discussed this in this thread when the front partition of the hangar was assembled during the construction process.

I don't recall any discussion about front partition Can you show me the link. Now how else can they get more room for extra J 15 if not extending the hanger?

Seperated by a few bulkheads but when they impliment the 001A design to have it completely removed from the beginning, they could jostle the internal space to make more room for the hanger. Now, we all agreed that practical utilization of the hanger deck won't have it sardine packed the planes even in full airwing deployment scenario, the extra room would more likely serve as workshop or other things.

Aircraft donot get "stacked" into a hanger like that where ALL space if taken up by nithing but aircraft.

The leave an aisle opne so they can manuever aircraft, helo0s, and equipment around in the hanger.

It is unrealstic to cram aircraft in like that and then indicate that that is the number of aircraft that will be carried in the hanger.

I don't have the old Varyag layout drawing so I can't comment But I did ask where the hanger is . And I think it sit next to the island. It at the starboard of the ship.
Doesn't look like it take too much real estate
It's easy. Just look at a drawing of the Kuznetsov:

You can easily tell that the 4 weapons elevators at the forward end of the hangar must absolutely be relocated if you want to extend the hangar forward, and also that the Granit launchers are so far forward that they are nowhere near the hangar.

Maybe they didn't actually make more room for extra J-15s is the point.

Those pictures do not show the whole width of the hangar deck. In the lower one there is a path to the left. In the upper one it would be to the right, to allow forlifts, tugs, and other aircraft to be moved by.

Well, these pictures make it pretty clear that the PLAN is heading for a carrier-borne fixed wing AEW aircraft like the E-2 Hawkeye.

We know that the mockup at Wuhan is where they take a hard look at things, both for th present and the future.

Now we are seeing their AEW design showing up there on its deck.

I believe we will see this aircraft on the 002 carriers. Whether it is STO enough to use off of the STOBAR carriers (001 and 001A) is yet to be seen.

The electronics and the done tend to make such aircraft heavy enough that it may be doubtful IMHO, but we shall see.
