What would be the purpose of 27/ fitting out the ship? Rapid outfitting will lead to mistakes. Is China on a war footing? Nope...China is on a great pace on building and outfitting this ship. I'm almost sure we shall see the ship at sea before the end of this year. Large warships require great patience in construction.

I think he's exaggerating. External outfitting probably isn't done during the night due to poor visibility which increases safety risks. Some internal outfitting might be done by graveyard shift workers since the internals aren't affected by daylight or lack thereof.

You are absolutely right that China is not at war and rapid outfitting may lead to mistakes ... it is true if it is done by the same crews ... I suspect there are 3 shift crews work 8 hours each .. so 24/7.

I believe by early next year (not Oct this year) the ship will be at sea

Surely if China is at war, it would be too late to accelerate the works. IMHO I have some businessmen doing business in China and their experience is the phenomenal rate in which they progress. Its not a 9 to 5 work for them. In any case, I think under the current tension in the South China Sea and the prospect of much more time before Shandong becomes operational, I would expect them to go as fast as they can.

I imagine that fitting out of the second ship will be done more efficiently than the first one so it should be faster without making mistakes due to haste.

With modular construction there is also the question of how much fitting out is done prior to module assembly. It could be that the ship was further along when launched than anticipated.

Ahhh..Nope. There are so many pipes, fire mains, electrical conduits, Vents of all sorts, hydraulic lines, fuel lines...etc...etc....all that have to be pieced together.

All those are well documented in the design in computer files and by a judicious choice of module shapes the number of connections to be made after assembly can be reduced. In that sense the fitting out of Type 001A will be much easier and faster than Type 001.
