Once CV01 is ready, the crew would be as well. That is PLAN's deliberate and methodical approach to carrier operations. When 2020 rolls around many thousands of folks would've familiarized themselves on board Liaoning. They can hit the road running when the new carrier commissions.
When PLAN puts out to sea their first CVN in say 8-10 years I believe at that time they would've been close to parity with USN in terms of operational comfort zone and readiness in carrier operations,

Le porte-avions Liaoning lors de son voyage à Hong Kong. On sait maintenant pourquoi il n'y a que huit J-15 à bord - le reste à Zhurihe.

The Liaoning carrier during his trip to Hong Kong. Now we know why there are eight J - 15 on board - the rest at Zhurihe.

It is not really about the aircraft, there must be more, but about the pilots who took their aircraft to Zhurihe.

Very interesting. China has had zero experience in operating an aircraft carrier. You have to start from the basics including many tiny details. That's why Liaoning is a "training and scientific research" carrier. This video shows how PLAN learns and improves from even the tiniest details, by everyone including the ordinary sailors on the ship.

Where is popeye? China is not blind to night flying They do exercise on land as shown in this video
Interestingly in the report about accident there passages about night flying. but they do fly J 11 B at night as this video prove

Chinese Navy - Navy first independent training of new fighter pilots to complete the night flight solo

Night flying over the ocean as sea very tough job only for the best of best

Night flying from carrier in the sea a cut above the rest

No reference points in the sea, it's pitch black, no moon means no light completely blind fully relying on intuition and instruments

Then in the middle of darkness find the carrier, low light and land

Then ground crew do work in the dark

Next to impossible but naval carrier pilots do it 24/7

I hope can master this night opps from carriers It is a central part of carrier aviation

Never stated that the PLAN/PLAAF does not fly at night. I just have never seen any photos or videos from CV-16 of any type of night operations. i.e. launches and arrested landings.

Apparently China is well on it's way of conducting night ops aboard CV-16...They may have already done so. the PLA does not show and tell all....like well....you know who!
