I was just thinking if this was in the US a lot of visitors could not make it up those ladders . Why? Lots of obese folks in the USA.

Apparently there is no embarkation sponson or permanent ladder aboard CV-16....Or perhaps this method of bring aboard visitors was prefered.

I believe these are permanent ladders stowed vertically, but are probably too low to the water (when deployed) to be used for that pier in the photos, however:

I think 1-2 055s, 2-3 052Ds, and 4 054As (and a 093B) would do just fine for a CV-16 escort for now.

Those booms were used to tie up the ships boats. USN carriers no longer use liberty boats. They just lease whatever is available.

In this video you can see some details of the flight deck..One thing I noticed because I'm a sailor I don't see any PLAN "Soldiers" except those on duty on da' roof....I absolutely guarantee you that aboard a USN carrier sailors would be on that flight deck trying to hit on the female visitors... well in days of old we would have.

In America's new Navy everything is sterile and over regulated but there is a dark side to it. No hitting, no smoking no nothing... but this is not necessarily a good thing because boys will still be boys. It's all a facade. There is an ominous side to it. All that pent up stress don't just disappear. Rapes, abuse etc still occur and many incidents are covered up.

Now that CV-17 is under construction CV-16 is yesterdays news. Hopefully people will get more oppertunities to visit the Liaoning.
