Not quite. The sniper's rifle of the Russian Army during WW2 was the Mosin-Nagant with a Snipers Scope attached. (If anyone has any specifics, then please correct.) The rifle was pretty much the basic infantry version with a scope. Now the PLA during Korea had a similar way of making things and the equipment on pretty much all sides was WW2 Surplus. The scoped rifles were more expensive to produce and being a million-man army, Cost Efectiveness is everything. And most snipers were skilled hunters in civilian life, so the need for a scope is lessened by that basic skill. Now that isint to say they didnt use scopes, just that it is more likely back then that they did not.

He was awarded with the "highest award", "snipering hero second grade", and N.Korean medal of "national banner's medal first grade" He uses the same rifle of Vassili Zaithev, a Mos Nagen with scope

Xiang Xiaoping is another sniper hero in PLA. He joined army in 1984, after he graduated from high school. In 40 days in the trenches of Lao Shan, he used 31 bullets made 30 confirmed kill and wounded one. He was awarded "combat hero" later on. He used a type 79 snipering rifle, chinese SVD

Of the 31 people Xiang Xiaoping shot.The last one was a girl. It was his only miss in which he did on purpose not to kill the girl
